As we have pledged over the past 18 months, the Board of Trustees continues to examine administrative decisions and actions relating to the change in management personnel during the summer of 2019. The recently completed forensic audit contributed many answers but also raised additional questions for the Board.
Seeking clarity and answers to those questions, a Zoom call was held with myself and three previous chairs of the Board and the former Chief Financial Officer. The recording of the call was made available to the entire Board for review and discussion.
After full discussion at our November board meeting, a motion was made and approved to rescind the Unity ordination of Bruce Verkruyse, Jr., effective November 19, 2020. He had been ordained in March 2013.
We recognize that this action will, in itself, raise additional questions by Unity members. Knowing this, the Board will continue to be as transparent as is allowable by law, while honoring and acknowledging the confidentiality of the employer/employee relationship that was in effect during the time period investigated.
