The 100 days after Memorial Day are known as the “100 Deadliest Days” due to the dramatic rise in the number of teen deaths on our roadways. According to the AAA Foundation of Traffic Safety, the average number of deadly teen crashes during that time climbs upwards of 15% when compared to the rest of the year.
This means our teen motorcyclists are likewise at an increased risk, and the reality is that we all share in the dangers associated with the threats our younger drivers face.
Accidents often involve multiple vehicles, and, as motorcyclists, we are much more likely to suffer injuries than those in other vehicles. Without the protection of crumple zones, airbags, seatbelts, and tons of steel, we are left solely with our riding gear to keep us safe. Before you tune out yet another mention on wearing proper gear, know that the options available on the market today offer several distinct advantages over your grandad’s old leather jacket.
