Ron Carlson has lived in Duncanville and preached at the Grace Place church of Christ for 20 years. He and his wife Sandra have two grown sons and five extraordinary grandchildren. Many of you may recognize Ron from his ten years as a columnist for the People newspaper which served Southwest Dallas County. Ron has survived a half a dozen life-threatening events, and though battered and tattered he continues to enjoy life to the fullest, with a wide range of hobbies and interests.

As you know, every year we have a Chili Cook-Off to replenish the Elders’ In-Reach Fund. This year we have had a number of serious needs in our congregation that has left the Fund at a very low point. Perhaps you don’t know exactly what the In-Reach Fund is.
Our Out-reach funds go to many worthy agencies and causes in our community or even in our world. At the same time, we sometimes have members with a crisis or serious need that they cannot deal with. Examples from the past are things like prescriptions, new glasses, dental work, rent and utility bills. We have all had low periods in our lives where we could use a little financial help. That is the purpose of the In-Reach Fund. Only your Elder, the Chairperson of the Elders, and the pastor will ever know of your request.
The Elders of FCC are praying that you will participate by concocting your own chili, soup, or stew in your crock-pot, bringing it to the cook-off on January 29th AND that you will buy many raffle tickets for some great items (even a TV), and give generously to our love offering basket. Of course, you will have a lot of fun and fellowship as well as some great food.
Please bring a power strip for your crock pot if you have one.
