Facilitating Collaboration with Neighbourhood Houses

You may have read about this exciting new project in previous eNews. The launch took place in late June at Bucaan House in Chigwell.  Now it's time to put the project into action.  Firstly, the ATDC would like you to help spread the word by distributing this flyer to all your staff.  You can also direct your staff to the ATDC website for more background reading.

The project aims to build connections between staff and volunteers in AOD services and in the Neighbourhood Houses Tasmania member services to:

• provide Neighbourhood House staff and volunteers with a basic understanding of AOD use issues;
• demonstrate the potential of houses as a neutral, safe and respectful environment in which to meet, for AOD sector workers;
• provide AOD workers with information about neighbourhood houses; and
• provide expert support to houses when the need for local forums on an ATOD specific issue is identified.

The project is not about adding work to busy AOD services, but aims to provide resources that enable staff and volunteers to further strengthen the services and supports already provided.
