Hello GrapeGuy,

It's time for my Canadian Top 3 ... homegrown wines that are just top notch. In this edition you'll find two wines from British Columbia, one grape you might expect the other a bit of a surprise; rounding out the top three is a wine from Trius, a Chardonnay and a gorgeous one at that.

Cheers.

Burrowing Owl 2012 Merlot
($39.95 - Winery & LCBO #585737) - British Columbia

Very silky across the tongue with chocolate, black cherry, and nice oak integration.  There’s also some vibrant/robust tannins with a seductive savoury note and hint of blueberry on the finish.

Rating: ****
Hillebrand / Trius

($36.00 - Winery Only) - Ontario
By now you know me, a self-proclaimed ABC (Anything But Chardonnay-er), but many have pointed out recently that I am drinking more of the stuff – Ontario is slowly changing my opinion on the grape and with this Trius version it’ll be hard for me to keep my ABC card intact. This award winning Chardonnay is loaded with everything you’re gonna love and plenty more ... (read more)
