Inspiring every generation

Developing the educational and learning potential of Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings is central to the Friends. The Friends have appointed Fay Bailey in the role of Development Officer and David Purslow, Martin Wilson Head teacher, has joined out trustee board. Fay will develop a range of learning resources, workshops and outreach activities designed to inspire and enthuse learners about this internationally significant building.

We won’t be limiting the opportunities for learning to those in education. We want to have a mix of formal and informal learning opportunities and events for all. We are also investigating opportunities for developing apprenticeships once the site is operational.

Fay is seeking comments from schools and family groups about the opportunities planned for the redeveloped Flaxmill Maltings. If you would like to participate in either of the surveys or find out more about the activities click here.

What do you want to see in the Flaxmill Maltings?

The main focus of the project is the social history of the people who worked in the Flax Mill Maltings, and of their neighbours in the community that grew up around the site. A range of useful work is now in progress.

This is just the beginning of discovering the history of the Flaxmill Maltings. You can find out more here.
