Following the enormous success in previous years we are delighted to announce that we will again be opening the
Flaxmill Maltings complexfor the Heritage Open Days this month:
 Opening Times

•Fri 11th September18:00- 20:00  (Art show preview)
•Sat 12th September10:00-16:00
•Sun 13th September10:00-16:00
 Guided tours will be available at regular intervals throughout the weekend and will be bookable on arrival.
Those with a head for heights can also book for a Jubilee Tower tour leading to one of the best views in Shropshire.
There will be interpretation and displays on the history, structure and uses of the buildings.
Visitors will explore the social history of the Flaxmill Maltings and be able to take part in learning and fun activities for all ages.


 
There will be a site related art exhibition entitled 'Through the Mill' and live music as well as Morris dancers,
a canal barge courtesy of the Canal Trust, childrens entertainment,
a magician and the Dye house will be subject to a ‘Yarn Bomb’ with striking colourful effects.  
 
Entry, tours and activities are free while food and drinks will be available from Shropshire Hogroasts.

internationally important site. There will be something for all ages and interests to enjoy
as they experience the world’s first iron frame building here in Shrewsbury.”

“We work hard lthroughout the year developing  knowledge and understanding of the site while providing
talks and tours to very many groups and organisations. This promises to be among
the best events yet and is provided free thanks to the superb work of our
Committee and other volunteers."
