The Friends’ Documentary Research Group have now reached an exciting stage in their project to reveal the stories of the people who worked at or were associated with the Flax Mill.

Table top sale
at Flaxivity


The Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings and Martin Wilson school held a table top sale at Flaxivity on Sunday the 7th of December. Proceeds were shared between the Friends and school. 
We plan to make this a monthly event, with the next two on Sunday the 18th of January and Sunday the 15th of February between midday and 2pm - some dates for your shiny new 2015 diary!

Flaxmill Maltings Perspectives

A collection of photographic interpretations
The Friends' book of images of the site is now available to buy from the shop at the Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery in the Square.  The high quality hardback the book costs £20.

It is also available for collection from our Flaxivity office or by mail order, with an extra charge of £2:50 to cover postage and packing. For more information please contact

Heritage clothing
sewing group

The sewing group has continued it's work, and has now produced a selection of bonnets, seen here modelled by members of the Friends' committee. 
The group will continue to meet monthly at the Museum in Shrewsbury to increase our collection of clothes. Their next venture is pinafores, then boys’ caps.
