Project of the Month

Congratulations to Mrs. Chevalier for winning Project of the Month with her Shrinky Dink Activity and Safe Science Cartoons!

"End of the semester Shrinky-dinks activity. The students love it (and so do I)! I know it's a lot of work for Mrs. Chevalier, and I appreciate her having it available...and the Safe Science Cartoons are so fun to read!"
Celebrating Black History Month
Our students are celebrating
Black History Month by creating posters to display around the school.
Biology Lab with Mrs. Chevalier
This month in Biology, students extracted DNA from strawberries using kitchen chemicals. We smashed our berries and added a buffer solution to break down the fat in the cell walls and nuclear membrane. After straining, we added isopropyl alcohol to separate the DNA from the remaining fluid. The DNA was clumped together, this represented ALL the DNA from a single strawberry. It was a fascinating experience and highly engaging.
