We've raised $2,425 of our $5k goal! Almost halfway there! An additional $2,575 will help us cover the cost of signage, communications, and collateral to promote the gallery & exhibits, as well as other essentials needed for the gallery's operation.

We have designated a sponsor wall so that everyone who donates will have their name on the wall at the entrance hallway to the gallery. We can't wait to get those names up there!

Help us make this the best gallery supporting sustainable arts in Austin by donating below!

This was part of a 4-painting series where I wanted to focus on the biker gang girlfriends. I was reading a bit in Danny Lyons' book "The Bikeriders", where many bikers  in their candor referred to their girlfriends as their "Old Lady", kind of like calling your dad "Pops". I just thought it was kinda funny, and something I latched onto, but it drew me to want to do a series on them, draw some women that were just as dangerous and perhaps equally as respected as the guys in the group. I was never really that crazy about how women were generally depicted in illustrations and films back then, they were always weak, one-dimensional characters that needed saving -- the "damsel in distress" cliche -- which I always thought was just weak writing. One of the paintings from the series was sold at benefit auction a couple years ago, and the woman who bought it told me her daughter said it scared her a little bit, but the mother loved it so much she gave me one of my highest compliments,"I like it, I feel like it really brings out my inner-badass!" Haha, I always loved that!

My work relies on manmade materials to create artificial environments that suggest “beauty” assigned to the natural landscapes or environments. The formal aspect of the work is subversive to the actual message; the transformation of inorganic into organic matter at aesthetic level participates in the antithetic perception of real vs. artificial. Where real is naturally occurring and artificial requires human intervention. This separation and replacement is inherit since the industrial revolution, however more recent discussion on the ecological balance generate a new types of interventions. Recent technological advances, which are also well received through consumer perspective, are in the technology of light. Better technology can improve the environment by consuming less energy. The balance between nature and technological progress is still fragile; however my art is not treating as antithetical.
