As I explain the current immigration environment to clients, I find myself saying, "Business common sense does not apply to USCIS’ adjudications.”
As Hagakure said in the Book of the Samurai, “Common sense will not accomplish great things. Simply become insane.” And we’re not insane yet 🙂 but we are working crazily hard and with full passion to defeat the immigration challenges and achieve success for our clients.
Over the last couple of years, the Trump administration has pushed many rules, memos, and new policies to overly tighten all visa programs but particularly the H-1B and L-1.
As we embark on the H-1B FY 2020 season, the process is even more fraught with uncertainty, emotions, and last-minute changes to policies and procedures. We’re working hand-in-hand with clients to stay on top of the changes, provide updates, strategize on the process, and overcome the obstacles. I’m grateful to our amazing clients and core team, Thyra, Ellen, and Gabbie who are working in great partnership to conquer these challenges.
In this newsletter, we offer you an H-1B process flowchart, so you can better understand the process; immigration tips from a recent fantastic business immigration roundtable in Minneapolis; and planning for H-1B extensions.
Additionally, I cover some last-minute changes regarding the H-1B cap-subject process (which have never been tested and were adopted by USCIS only 20 days before the H-1B cap filing season began).
Do you agree that it takes a bit of craziness to make things happen in immigration today?
As always, thank you for your readership, partnership, and referrals.
