E-NEWS BULLETIN - Monday 6th July 2015
Congratulations to...
 
* Hampshire Beaver Scouts on three great County Picnics at Itchen Valley Country Park, Denmead Scout HQ, and the Vyne School in Basingstoke. Special congratulations to Chip for his rockstar tour of all three events, and to Wendy and the County Beaver team for organising it all.
 
* Hampshire DofE Gold Award holders on receiving their Hampshire Certificates from the Lord-Lieutenant at an excellent event in the Great Hall - and especially to the 9 Award holders from Hampshire Scouting 
 
* County Development Forum on all the great ideas and progress being made in establishing new sections and Scout Groups around Hampshire
 
* Romsey on a packed District AGM, with the MP in attendance, and with segments about Hospital Scouting and historic photos of Scouts in Romsey
 
* 10th Romsey on a super Group AGM, archery and barbecue - and a successful year for a large, growing and friendly Scout Group


* The 15 Group and District Chairs, Secretaries, Treasurers and Executive members from around the County, who attended the Effective Executive Training on Saturday in Copythorne, with good interaction and ideas. Over 100 people have attended the Courses so far this year. Watch out for new course dates later in the year.

 
2016 St. Georges Day Awards – REMINDER
We are of course aware that with Compass being out of action, submitting SGDA's this year may be more difficult. However we are sure you have been planning them for some time, and the recent note in Focus Plus will help with any queries relating to eligibility, time in scouting etc.etc.
 
It is important we get all nominations into County Office by Friday 24th July latest so they can be processed by the County Awards Board in time for the Gilwell deadline of 1st September.
 
Further information relating to the submission of Awards can be found on scouts.org and many DC'S attended the Award workshop in April – see also attached aide memoir which may help relating to criteria and links below.
Applying for awards
   
When applying for awards for volunteers, please continue to use the current forms TSA07/CGMfor Meritorious Conduct and Gallantry orTSA06/GS for Good Service Awards. The Awards Team can look up any information you need to help you complete the forms and can issue you with individual records which show historic service, previous awards, Wood Badges and also the total years’ service complete. Adult Training
Details reflecting where we are with bookings for training modules for July - November 2015 can be found on the County website.

We usually stop at 24 delegates on each, and really need a minimum of 10 delegates to run most modules (residential a minimum of 15) – please ensure you book on Adult Training Modules in plenty of time to prevent cancellation!

Zany Zebra Badge
Badges are £2 each and everyone who buys one will be entered into a draw to win a family ticket or a pair of child's tickets. The money raised is to pay for the Hampshire Scouts Zany Zebra, who will be a part of the zebra trail next year. Badges are available from Fi Durrant - youth.council@scouts-hants.org.uk

Hampshire Scouts Mountaineering Team (HSMT)

Autumn 2015 course dates.

The autumn dates (Sept & Oct) for the Scout Association Hillwalking and Climbing Adventurous Activities Permit, Training or Assessment and the experience weekends are now available. 
The Adventurous Activities Permit Training or Assessment courses are held over 3 days, Fri to Sun.
Hillwalking or Climbing Experience courses are held over 2 days, Sat to Sun.
