E-NEWS BULLETIN - Monday 24th August 2015
Congratulations to...
* Uganda on an amazing expedition, redecorating the local school, climbing Mt Elgon and whitewater rafting, and visiting the water wells that this and previous expeditions have fundraised for and seeing the difference they have made. Plus a safari seeing lions and a cheetah.. Thanks also the leader team of Phil, Naomi, Sue and Ruth for organising and running the adventure
* Tanzania 2015 on completing their fantastic expedition, including climbing to the Sanje falls, seeing lions and other wildlife in Mikumi National Park, and having a well deserved break on the beach to round off the trip. They returned on Saturday evening to a plethora of welcome home gifts, including a banner, a chocolate malteser cake, and a pillow to fall asleep on in the car on the way back home. A big thank you also their leaders for keeping them safe - Jools, Richard, Claire, Sarah, Sophie, Anna, and Doctor Jackie
* Ferny Crofts on an aweseome summer - the site was busy again over this weekend, and is going to be packed out over August Bank Holiday

S.S. "Shieldhall" - Harbour Training Day for Hampshire Scouts - Saturday 19th September 2015.
A quick reminder that our next "Harbour Training Day for Young People" is scheduled for Saturday 19th September 2015.
We will be using the same tried and tested format that has been enjoyed by so many in the past so hopefully we'll have a good turn out. Having said this though, if any Group are especially keen that their members should receive instruction on some other specific aspect of seamanship then please tell me and I'll try to set things up with our training team. Our price for this fantastic experience remains at just £20 per participant; there is no charge for accompanying leaders / adults who we would anticipate being present on a 1:6 ratio basis or better.
We are very much aware that it is extremely difficult for Groups to get definite numbers for events such as this at this time of the year with summer camps all on the go and members being away on family holidays..., so what we would say to any Group interested is please give Nigel Philpott, our ticket Manager a ring on 0844 357  2329 and register an interest with a best "guess-estimate" on numbers. Nigel will then make a provisional reservation and the only charge made will be on those that actually walk up our gangway on the day. Obviously if anyone is able to make a firm commitment before the day this would be more than helpful.
It rather looks as though the ship will be on 110 Berth, Western Docks on this day but obviously if this should change we'll let people know. If more information is req'uired that is not on our web-site - this being , people can always drop me an email.

Cub Scouts Centenary - Celebration Festival of Flags & Cathedral Service:
The date for this was advised early in 2015 as Friday 3rd June 2016 – the Friday of half term week. The organising group (made up of Hampshire CS leaders) met recently and agreed to keep the date as originally advertised.
More details will come out over the next few months, but please ‘save the date’ for this wonderful opportunity for our Cub Scouts to have fun,  be part of and see firsthand one of Hampshire’s celebration events to mark this historic point in Scouting and in such historic surroundings. It is thought that the event will start in Winchester at 18.30 with the celebration service at 19.30 for 45 minutes and then disperse at 20.30 hours.
Please email if you have any initial enquiries.
