E-NEWS BULLETIN - Monday 14th September 2015
Congratulations to...

* 11th Winchester on the opening of their super new extension to their Log Cabin HQ - combining the old with the new, and providing much better facilities for a large and growing Scout Group
 
* Hampshire’s delegation to the national AGM on a strong presence at the event, including our new Elected Youth Representatives Tilly and Sophie
 
* Eastleigh on a great District Camp at Southampton University’s Sports Grounds, packed with land and water activities, and over 350 people present from every Group and nearly every Section
 
* Hampshire Scout Archery Club on another very successful County Archery Competition, with field, target and clout, and teams from around the County plus a guest team from the Isle of Wight
 
Save the date…County Conference, Saturday 24th October
 
Our next County Conference is just six weeks away, and will again be at Thornden Hall in Chandlers Ford. Watch out for an invite if you want to be part of shaping the future of Hampshire Scouting - young people, Group and Unit leaders, District teams, and County support.

If you do, you may be interested in the Briefing Sessions being run by Hampshire County Council 6th October 2015 at EII Court, Winchester.
This includes information on the following:
Section 19 Permits
Driver Licensing
Minibus Maintenance
MiDAS DATs
There is no charge for attending but attendance must be booked.

District Commissioners Wanted
Do you think you have what it takes to be a District Commissioner or do you know someone who has?
We are looking for 3 new District Commissioner’s in the South West of Hampshire to lead, manage and grow their District into the future as we continue to provide active and adventurous Scouting to everyone involved young and those with a little more experience.
We currently have a need for District Commissioners to lead and develop their District in the following area’s New Forest West; New Forest East; Romsey

ACC(DS) South West Hampshire Scouting
2015 LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT WEEKEND:  Open to All DCs and GSLs in post for less than 24 months
 
Why:  This follows  the previous highly successful Leadership & Management Weekends (since 2011 ) for newly appointed District Commissioners and Group Scout Leaders, valued by many.
 
How: This training does not follow the normal module format but will cover many of the objectives in a meaningful, fun and thoughtful way.
 
When:  21st/22nd  November 2015 at the Holiday Inn, Eastleigh. Residential only.
 
This weekend is open to all DC’s/DDC’s and GSL’s who have been in post for up to 24 months.
 
A number of applications have already been received but there are still places available.  More details will be issued over the coming weeks, but in the meantime, please notify your wish to attend to Donna Kerrigan, Director of Adult Learning on ctm@scouts-hants.org.uk quickly to save disappointment (previous weekends were oversubscribed!).
 

 
LLocal Training Managers Conference

This will be an opportunity for LTM’s to meet together to take part in LTM workshops and prepare for changes to the wood badge recommendation processes.

Training Advisers
The biennial TA evenings for 2015 have been arranged. These events are for current and aspiring TA’s.
All the events will start at 19.30 and finish at 21.30.
  • (Tues) 3rd November 2015 @  Cricket Camp
  • (Mon) 9th November 2015 @  1st Eastleigh
  • (Thurs) 12th November 2015 @  Hook Scout HQ
This will be an opportunity to take part in TA workshops and receive information and updates.

Registration dates released for Roverang and Hedge End Gang Show 2016!
 
Hedge End Gang Show
Hedge End are back with a bang with their ‘Best of British’  Gang Show
With a brand new Producer at the helm, HEGS are now full steam ahead with plans for their 2016 production which will be staged at Wyvern Technical College in February and you could be part of it. Cast registration is being held on Sunday 11th October between 2-3pm at BP Lodge, Hedge End and is open to all members of Itchen North District - that’s Cubs, scouts, explorers, network and leaders.

Roverang Scout & Guide Show
Roverang have big plans ahead to for their 59th production in April 2016 too with a new production team with some new and exciting ideas, bringing Roverang ever closer to its 60th year!!!
Cast registration details are outlined below and will be held at 3rd Itchen North HQ, Brook Road, Bitterne. Roverang cast is open to members of both The Scout Association or Girlguiding UK under the age of 25.
Adults cast : Open to Rangers, Explorer Scouts, Scout Network/leaders from 14+ – 6-7pm on Sunday 4th October
Junior Cast: Open to anyone who is Scout or Guide age for the week of the show – 4-6pm on Sunday 1st November
Kids Cast: Open to anyone who is Cub or Brownie age by the week of the show – 4-6pm on Sunday 1st November
 
And if you want just a sneak peek of both the above productions them along with the talents of Basingstoke Gang Show, Andover Gang Show and Odiham Scout Show, then why not come along to our County Show on 18th October in Winchester and show your support.
