Gone Home
It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Harry Bennett died early this morning in hospital.
Harry was one of the most respected and  dedicated  Scouters and will be sadly missed having been a member of both Eastleigh and Chandlers Ford District for at last 46 years.
So many young people and Leaders will remember him for his knowledge of all things  Scouting which he freely shared in  Group and District Team roles and in Training and as part of the County Team.
He was one of stalwarts of the Gang Show and appeared on stage so many times and with his wife Lucy will always be remembered  for all the hilarious skits he took part in.
He was, for years, the Camp Warden at Cranbury Park Camp site and did many hours of work there to ensure the standard of the site was kept to the highest level.
In later years Harry became ADC fellowship in Chandlers Ford , supporting the District in many and valued ways. He was always there with wise advice and a knowledge of Scouting and many people will have their memories of Harry over the years.
I will send details of Funeral arrangements as soon as I hear from his daughter Shirley. Please forward this to all Leaders and members of your Groups as applicable.
Yours in Scouting

Scouts at Wickham Water Meadows find purse
A group of Scouts were in Wickham Water Meadows on Wednesday evening (10th) and someone found a ladies purse and took it back to it's owner. The owner's husband contacted Akela of Wickham Scout Group asking if they knew who this person was. The husband would like to thank them in person. Do you know who the finder is? Please contact who will pass their details on.
Thank you.
Rock Up - Climbing Discount
I'm writing to you from Rock Up at Whiteley (Hampshire), the new themed indoor climbing wall.
We are conscious of the great job that scout and guide groups do to keep young children active, engaged and learning good life skills. We wanted to help provide an alternative activity that these groups could do without it being prohibitively expensive.
To this end, we have set up special rates for all scouts and guide groups, whereby we offer 30 places for the price of 20. This means that during off peak (Mon - Thu) it is £160 for 30 children/adults to climb.
Rock Up has been set up to provide a fun, stimulating activity centre that gets children not only physically active, but also builds their confidence, teaches them new skills, challenges their fears and get them thinking laterally.
If you would like to pass on this offer to all your relevant groups then please feel free to do so. We have had quite a few groups through our doors already - all leaving with big smiles on their faces and walking slightly taller than when they came in.
If you are interested in booking, please either email or call 01489 232324 to discuss your requirements.

Short Breaks Funding
Hampshire County Scout Council (HCSC) has been successful in procuring some Short Breaks Funding to support Scouts (aged 6-18years) who live in Hampshire. Any Scout applying for funding must be registered with Hampshire County Council for a Gateway Card. Regrettably this funding does not apply to people living within the administrative boundaries of Southampton City Council or Portsmouth City Council. Funding applies to FY2015-2016.
If the Scout does not have a carer – parents / Leaders are asked to contact Parent Voice who will arrange for a suitable person to attend scout evenings. Please contact Parent Voice 0300 303 8603 or
Funding may be used for a carer to attend Scout evenings or Scout activity. It does not apply to sleepovers or overnight camping activities.
Once the application has been approved for funding, County Office will liaise with the carer to pay the attendance money.
Please find attached the HCSC Application Form which needs to be competed in full and returned to or Carol Sleath as soon as possible.
