Traditional Owner Acknowledgement

The Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CCMA) wishes to acknowledge the Eastern Maar and Wadawurrung, Traditional Owners of the land of the Barwon River. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. We commit to continuing to work with all Traditional Owners to ensure their knowledge and culture is included and valued in planning and delivery of water down the Barwon River.

West Barwon Reservoir Update

West Barwon Reservoir reached full capacity at 9.30 am Wednesday (September 29) and started to spill.

A total of 202 mm of rainfall has fallen at Mt Sabine since Wednesday. More rain is expected in coming days but nothing as significant as the last two days.

As of 8 am today (Friday, 1 October) a total of 2,450 megalitres has flowed over the West Barwon Reservoir spillway.

Spillway flows are likely to continue for at least the next two weeks but may continue for a longer period if intermittent rainfall occurs.

Barwon Water transfers water from West Barwon Reservoir to Wurdee Boluc Reservoir using the East Barwon River and has currently ceased those transfers to reduce the impact of flooding on the East Barwon River.

Barwon Water will recommence these transfers as soon as the flows in the East Barwon subside.

Flood Safety Advice

The Victorian SES provides flood safety advice and recommend that you stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain. Flood warnings and flood watch information can be found at www.bom.gov.au/vic/warnings

Birregurra-Forrest Road Update

Regional Roads Victoria is monitoring the closed section of road and repairs will continue as the waters subside and weather conditions improve.
