I can know that I am unhappy, anxious, or sad without wallowing in it. Acknowledging the presence of painful emotions while getting on with whatever needs to be done in the moment is a way to have these feelings without being dragged down by them.

Try: Connect in with whatever feelings you are having right now (pleasant or painful), acknowledge that they are there and then move on with whatever you need to do next today.

What will happen in the next eight or nine hours? How will things work out? Unless you really need to think about this, why not drop the crystal ball gazing and pay attention to the details of the moments you are living through? That usually requires less energy and stress.

Try: Next time you catch yourself crystal ball gazing, try telling yourself to ‘drop the crystal ball’ and bringing your awareness to the moment.
