June 18, 2014: Issue 44

What are you doing this summer?

62 CWRU students are studying abroad!
There are 62 students studying abroad for the summer, as compared to last year’s 35 students! They are going to China (30 students), Denmark (6), the UK (6), South Korea (4), Japan (3), Taiwan (3), Greece (2), multiple different countries (2) and 1 student to each of the following countries: Argentina, Austria, France, India, Israel, and Italy. The 62 students hail from the following CWRU schools: 27 College of Arts and Sciences majors, 20 Weatherhead School of Management majors, 11 Engineering majors, and 6 Nursing majors. (Note that some students are double majors, so if these numbers are added together, they will equal more than 62.)

Spring Semester 2015 in London with RADA
For over 100 years RADA has specialized in professional training for the dramatic arts. RADA students spend very little time sitting around in lectures: the skills of the actor, the stage manager, the scenic artist need to be practiced to achieve expertise. The staff combines excellence as teachers, with continued engagement in the profession: winning awards, directing movies, publishing books and working with major producers, both in the UK and abroad.  CWRU has partnered with RADA to offer a full spring semester course of study, in London.  This is a CWRU "IN" program, which means students will register through CWRU for this semester abroad.

Winter Break Apps are Open
Earn 3 credits while studying in Costa Rica, Ecuador, or India.  CWRU offers three exciting opportunities for you to study abroad on a short-term program over your winter break.  Students will register for the Fall semester for the 3-credit class.  The courses will meet in the fall, prior to the trip over the break.  There will also be a class meeting early in the spring semester.  Courses count for Global and Cultural Diversity credit for students in Arts and Sciences and Humanities credit for students in Engineering.  These courses are open to all students, although it should be noted that the Ecuador course is on a wait list at this time.  To explore all your options for study abroad, visit our website at
