CWRU in London at RADA Webinar, April 4
For over 100 years RADA has specialized in professional training for the dramatic arts. RADA students spend very little time sitting around in lectures: the skills of the actor, the stage manager, the scenic artist need to be practiced to achieve expertise. The staff combines excellence as teachers, with continued engagement in the profession: winning awards, directing movies, publishing books and working with major producers, both in the UK and abroad. CWRU has partnered with RADA to offer a full spring semester course of study, in London. Students receive CWRU credit while studying with RADA faculty. Visit our website to learn more about this exciting program. Please join us on Friday, April 4th, 1pm, in Tomlinson Hall for an informational webinar about the program. Click here to APPLY.

The Department of Modern Languages is offering a May Term Study Abroad Course: French/World Literature: Paris Experience (FRCH308/WLIT308)
Trip Dates: 5/13/2014-6/2/2014
Deadline to apply is April 1st!
Paris is a tourist-friendly city, but there are fascinating neighborhoods of France's capital that many tourists don't get a chance to see. The focus of this course is to discover
Paris’s ethnic neighborhoods through the literature and culture of its African, Arab, and Asian communities. Students visit cultural centers and museums, but also meet with authors and community leaders, attend an African dance session, and observe a literacy program for France’s newly arrived immigrants. Students also debate social issues with French students concerning immigration and French identity. Some course highlights: discuss African literature with the first woman writer of Cameroon, Thérèse Kuoh-Moukoury; and Arab culture with Evelyne Accad, one of the most renowned Arab scholars and novelists. Learn about African music and dance from Lucky Zebila, former Director of the National Ballet of the Congo. Discuss current issues with French students from three schools, including Lycée Louis-le-Grand, one of
Paris’s premier schools founded in the 16th century. Find out how Malian immigrants have integrated in France through visiting a Malian neighborhood and sharing an African meal with residents in a local dining hall.
