Engaging children in entrepreneurship education will inspire and set the stage for our future leaders

Dear Educators,

We are excited to tell you about all the wonderful happenings at in the last couple of months!  I would like to take a moment, though, to thank you all for your commitment to empowering your students with the knowledge and the right tools to achieve amazing results in the classroom.

At, we believe in investing in the next generation of leaders. We know that tomorrow's jobs are going to be created by the leaders and entrepreneurs that we foster today. We also support you in your efforts to make school engaging and meaningful for students by providing fun, hands-on programs that connect their education today with the prospects of their future.

For the past 17 years, has challenged and engaged almost half a million children around the globe and across the cultural and economic spectrum with these project-based, entrepreneurship programs. We believe there is no such thing as too early when it comes to financial and STEM education.
The new and improved BizMovie 2.0 is designed to prepare children for a future of financial success and technological innovation.  At our third annual Awards Dinner, which honored Dr. Paul Jacobs, executive chairman of Qualcomm Inc. as an education innovator, we featured this program.
We hope that BizMovie 2.0 will create a new generation of leaders following in the footsteps of Dr. Jacobs!

We also celebrated Financial Literacy month in April by running a fun contest where your students submitted wonderful designs of piggy banks and memorable financial quotes. Here is the winning entry!

In honor of teacher appreciation week in May, we have created some fun videos with special shout-outs on Facebook to celebrate all your hard work and dedication. Take a look, have a wonderful summer and talk to you again in August!

Lights, camera, action: BizMovie 2.0 is here! This updated version of BizMovie brings together the business world with technology as students work in teams to run their own businesses and create their own animated movies using GoAnimate for Schools.  A one-year subscription to this online movie-making platform is now included with the purchase of every BizMovie program! With this platform, students will make creative films by choosing a background, developing custom characters, and adding dialogue, sound, and special effects.  While technology is a focus of this program, students still have the opportunity to learn about what it really takes to run a successful company and keep it financially viable.  Learn More

Want to put your own spin on the BizMovie® 2.0 program? There’s so much you can do to make this experience your own! Featured fifth grader teacher, Ashley Gould, of Sycamore Valley Elementary and her colleagues, Kristine Blechman and Doug Wartenberg, found creative ways to extend the BizMovie experience. Students did market research on high-grossing movies and created graphs to represent their findings. Students also watched “Shark Tank” and pitched during their own funding session with their principal!
Ashley also incorporated the parent community into the BizMovie program, by inviting parents to participate in the BizMovie Box Office Day! The event was a
success with over 25 parents and siblings in attendance to watch the students’ films. Students loved showing off all their hard work to the parents and competing for ticket sales with other classmates! Parents were impressed by students’ creative film ideas and their conversations about revenue and ticket sales.  Ashley wrote, “Way more parents came than I expected, which was GREAT...I have received so many nice notes from parents with how impressed they are with the program.”

Are you teaching BizMovie and looking for a way to organize your movie showings for Box Office Day? Ashley Gould, Kristine Blechman, and Doug Wartenberg - BizMovie teachers at Sycamore Valley Elementary School in Danville, CA - did a great job!

All three teachers showed previews in their classrooms, rotating audiences from one room to the next, and shared a listing of movie times with the shoppers.  Afterwards, the BizMovie students sold tickets to their movies, and the three teachers opened their theaters (classrooms).  All three theaters played movies simultaneously, and they were even able to offer second showings of the films!
