Give girls a greenlight for science:
May in photos

May has been a month full of planning and preparations at our greenlight for girls headquarters and around the world.   What’s next on our calendar?  We are getting ready for  Brazil next in August!  We are also busy preparing for our new interns Jeff, Siqi, Sylvia and Christina in at Brussels headquarters and one new intern, Melanie, in the Boston Area.  Plus, we are excited to say that since our attendance at the Jane Goodall Roots & Shoots ceremony in the EU Parliament, we are creating our very own g4g roots and shoots team which will be competing next year!  Finally, the school year begins in July in India and we have our next 4 scholarship girls ready to attend university including some exciting news comming soon about the scholarship. Help us to raise funds to get them to school!

Summer Social Fundraiser
At the Royal Museum of Central Africa

Introducing our Summer Science Social!
We would like to invite you and your whole family (and friends and neighbours) to join us at the Royal Museum for Central Africa on Sunday, 7 July from 12:30noon to 5:00pm.  You may already know how beautiful the museum and its grounds are – it’s a perfect summer social location for the g4g family!  It’s also a museum all about science, discovery, history and the arts.  It is a museum featuring the elements of Congo, which is very dear to us as our g4g Board Member Joyce Lualaba is situated in the Congo and we have a greenlight for girls events there too!  The museum will be closing down for a 3 year renovation period and we found this the perfect reason to come and visit this beautiful museum with our families whilst enjoying a themed lunch and a couple of workshops for the children. We have arranged for Tours of the museum as well!
We invite all our greenlight for girls’ families, volunteers, teachers and parents as well as the students and alumni of one of our Brussels partners, Boston University in Brussels as well as special guests.

What does the day entail:

- Themed Lunch including Drinks
- Free Access to the museum
- Free tour of the museum for those who sign up
- Free workshop for the children, a choice of two:
African Workshop 'on the Market' with mama Leona (Ages: 6 - 10yrs)
Workshop musical 'Rhythm session' (Ages: 11 - 16yrs) Adults are welcome too!

- We will also be raffling off some great services such as 'A day at the Spa', 'A private Yoga Lesson', 'A case of wine', 'One night stay at a boutique hotel' and many many more all in support of our Global Project and a Scholarship for girls in the DRC. So remember to bring money, raffel is 2 euros a ticket!

Ouline of the Day:
12:30 - 15:30 - Lunch and Social Gathering in the Inner Courtyard of the Museum
15:30 - 17:00 - Workshops for children and Museum Visits

Join us on Sunday 7 July and buy your tickets here!
Thank you everyone and we can’t wait to spend some family & science time with you and your families!

Jane Goodall's Visit to Brussels
Join our own Greenlight for girls Roots&Shoots Team!

What is Roots & Shoots?

The Jane Goodall’s Roots&Shoots programme was launched in 2011. It started with pilot groups of all ages at international schools and universities. They all presented their projects at the first R&S ceremony in the presence of Dr Jane Goodall in May 2011. In 2012, the second R&S ceremony took place at the European Parliament and today there are also Belgian schools and university groups!

The groups have to present projects that benefit the Environment, Animals and People.

Here are some of the projects presented this years ceremony

The greenlight for girls team attended the ceremony this year to see what kind of projects were presented and to find out more about Roots&Shoots in preparation of creating our own g4g Roots&Shoots group that will be composed of girls from different schools in Belgium. If you are interested in partaking in the g4g Roots&Shoots please email us on!

Support one of our two new projects

Our next 4 girls are about to embark on their journey at University and they need your help!
We now need to raise funds for them to start their first year and for the rest of the 4 girls to complete their second year. They are counting on all of us to help them realise their goals and in turn give back to society.
You can easily donate through the  Global Scholarship page!
