Raising Little Heroes: September 2013
Wonderland Park

Our family spent a couple of hours with fellow RLH family and our good friends the Smith Family at Wonderland Park on August 10th.  We worked hard weeding the front garden and enjoyed a walk around the lake.  I love feeling a special connection to this serene park, and I hope you all do too.  Please know that whenever you find yourselves there, or would like to spend some time with your kids doing an easy project, you can feel free to pick up trash and broken branches and leave them in piles by the walkways.  If you do so, just let me know so I can contact the right people to go pick up the piles.  This is our park, so let's make sure we show it some love all year, whether or not we have an official event there!

RLH will be supporting US troops for our September event.  We have many ways in which our families can participate, and you may pick and choose which you would like to do.  Everything we make together and collect will be sent as a care package to Operation Care Package in Illinois.  This organization will then send our package to troops overseas.  If you are interested in helping out with the shipping costs from here to Illinois please let us know.

For more information and to RSVP, please see the evite for this event.
Saturday October 19th

Please join us as YardBusters for a Day! YardBusters helps older adults and disabled clients with basic yard maintenance. Boulder County Care Connect matches volunteers who love to work outdoors with seniors and adults with disabilities to provide lawn mowing, garden preparation and yard clean-up including removal of small limbs and fall safety hazards. Please bring a sweater, water, garden gloves, and a smile with you.
Please stay tuned for the official evite.  We will get it out to you as soon as times and locations are set in stone. In the meantime, for more information on this program and other volunteer opportunities through Boulder County Care Connect visit www.careconnectbc.org
We are working out details for our November event, but are expecting to be able to offer our families a chance to help serve a Thanksgiving meal to those who would otherwise be alone and hungry.  We are very excited about this and are doing our best to make it happen.  Please hang in there while we work out the kinks and we will let you know when we have more information.

Want a Raising Little Heroes tshirt to wear to events and around town?  Let us know and we will order a few for you and your family members.  For more information, please see the "RLH tshirts" page on our website.  Order today!

We need your feedback as we begin to plan more events, so if you haven't already, please take a few moments to fill out our Family Survey.

Interested in being on our Advisory Board?  Want to be more involved in planning and pulling off our events?  You might want to consider checking out our "Volunteer Positions" page for information about available positions.  We have a great team, but we could use more help coming up with fun and interesting projects for our families.  Join our team now and be part of the excitement!

If you would like to be more involved but are not sure you want to commit to any of our available positions, we can always use committee help for individual projects.  If one of our upcoming projects looks particularly interesting to you, please consider contacting us about helping to run that specific event.
