Raising Little Heroes Club Month Celebration &
Change for Change for Developing Hands

Our heroes came together at Meadows Branch of the Boulder Public Library in July to celebrate our June efforts supporting the Earth and to learn about the work being done in Nepal by Boulder nonprofit Developing Hands. Heroes were treated to pizza donated by Blackjack Pizza of Boulder while listening to a presentation given by the president of Developing Hands, Keith Robinson. Keith kept the kids attention with funny stories of Nepalese world record holders (most kicks to the forehead in 1 minute!) while painting a vivid picture of post-earthquake Nepal. We are grateful to have been given this glimpse into the beauty of Nepal and why it's important for us to treasure the culture while finding ways to support it.

After the presentation, our heroes made cards to be delivered to the children most likely to attend the Nepalese school being built by Developing Hands and beaded bracelets to take home as a reminder of those in the midst of recovery efforts.

To top off this lovely evening, we celebrated with a little ice cream party made possible by Glacier Homemade Ice Cream and Gelato! During the celebration, those in attendance who had participated in our "Change for Change" effort in support of the Developing Hands mission consolidated our change (totaling $125.02!) which will be donated to Developing Hands.

August 30th

Baking for Firefighters

Join us later this month for one of our favorite events, baking for firefighters. Bring some baked goods to Scott Carpenter Park as well as any wrapping supplies you have lying around. We'll package the goodies and make cards for our brave fire fighters and hand deliver them to the station just down the street! Check out the eventbrite page for more details. See you there!

September 19th
Save the Fruit!

Raising Little Heroes is teaming up with Community Fruit Rescue to pick fruit from trees in Boulder County that would otherwise go to waste. Not only could this fruit be enjoyed and shared with local food banks, the unused, fallen fruit can be a dangerous attraction for bears. Join us Saturday September 19, 2015 to harvest, share and celebrate the bounty of our urban forest by helping us collect fruit to donate to local organizations that can put it to good use.

Upcoming Projects

We have a strong team in place now, and we are still in need of a treasurer. If anyone is interested in filling this position or knows someone who may be interested, email us at raisinglittleheroes@gmail.com!

RLH's planning committee has been hard at work and we are excited to present to you the next year in events! We can't wait to dig into planning details for each of these projects and hope you will consider helping us organize one (or more!) of them. If you're curious, take a peek at out our upcoming projects page. We are always on the lookout for extra hands and resources so please take a careful look--let us know your thoughts and what you may have to offer to help make our offerings even more special!

Want a Raising Little Heroes tshirt to wear to events and around town?  Let us know and we will order a few for you and your family members.  For more information, please see the "RLH tshirts" page on our website.  Order today!

We need your feedback as we begin to plan more events, so if you haven't already, please take a few moments to fill out our Family Survey.

Interested in being on our Advisory Board?  Want to be more involved in planning and pulling off our events?  You might want to consider checking out our "Volunteer Positions" page for information about available positions.  We have a great team, but we could use more help coming up with fun and interesting projects for our families.  Join our team now and be part of the excitement!

If you would like to be more involved but are not sure you want to commit to any of our available positions, we can always use committee help for individual projects.  If one of our upcoming projects looks particularly interesting to you, please consider contacting us about helping to run that specific event.
