Raising Little Heroes: February 2015

Toy Drive/Book Festival

Our donation bins for A Precious Child were overflowing with gently used toys and books from our little heroes before half the group had even arrived!

We were very fortunate to have so many people and organizations come together to make this event special. Mountain Kids Louisville was kind enough to offer up the space without us approaching them about it. They heard we had a need for space and contacted us! So generous of them to share their beautiful dance/gymnastics facility for the morning. I think it's safe to say all of our kids now want to go back for a lesson or two!

Moe's Broadway Bagels and Two Moms in the Raw helped fill little bellies so the kids could concentrate on storytime with our 5 brilliant guest authors. Thank you to Abby Jacobs, Chelsea Pohl, Colette Fischer, Anna Harbor Freeman and Elaine Kiernan-Johnson for sharing their work and vision with us!

Valentines for Seniors

Let's bring some love to the Seniors in Boulder! We are planning on bringing some cheer to the Senior Center in Boulder with Valentine decorations and hope to get in a quick game of valentine bingo. If you have grandparents in the area, please feel free to bring them. We will supply all the craft materials, all you need to bring is your enthusiasm! See the evite for details.

Kits for Kids

One of our all time favorite events- Kits for Kids for Project C.U.R.E is back! Project C.U.R.E. developed Kits for Kids to give parents in developing countries the supplies they need to provide basic care at home. Our heroes always have a great time decorating bags filled with personal hygiene and basic "medicine cabinet" items that are scarce in the developing world. Event details to come.

RLH Think Tank

A new addition to all of our events...we will bring an a empty fish bowl from here on out, just waiting to be filled with project ideas from your little heroes. We want to know what THEY think is important and how they would like to contribute to our community. We will choose an idea from the bowl and create an event around it, giving props to the hero who thought of it of course.

So, start asking your kiddos what they would like to do and come ready to add their thoughts to the Think Tank at our next event!

Support the Longmont Humane Society

Help us spread some love to our furry friends at the Longmont Humane Society.

Co-host Chelsea Pohl, founder of
Little Locheart Arts in Boulder, will be leading our group in a project focused on creating cat toys that will be donated to the residents of the Humane Society.

All we ask of your little heroes is to bring at least 1 item from the
Humane Society's wish list and be ready to create and have fun!

We encourage you and your families to stay after the event to visit with a cat or two and/or walk a dog. They would love the extra attention from your great kids! Check out the
evite for details!

Want a Raising Little Heroes tshirt to wear to events and around town?  Let us know and we will order a few for you and your family members.  For more information, please see the "RLH tshirts" page on our website.  Order today!

We need your feedback as we begin to plan more events, so if you haven't already, please take a few moments to fill out our Family Survey.

Interested in being on our Advisory Board?  Want to be more involved in planning and pulling off our events?  You might want to consider checking out our "Volunteer Positions" page for information about available positions.  We have a great team, but we could use more help coming up with fun and interesting projects for our families.  Join our team now and be part of the excitement!

If you would like to be more involved but are not sure you want to commit to any of our available positions, we can always use committee help for individual projects.  If one of our upcoming projects looks particularly interesting to you, please consider contacting us about helping to run that specific event.
