Welcome to 2019

On one Saturday in December, 3 branches - Downtown, Scotts Valley, and Aptos welcomed familiar face Mike Della Penna to entertain hundreds of kids and adults with his Winter Magic Show. Mike is a teacher and performer. What a great way to start off Winter Break!
But now ...

Happy New Year!  Happy Back to School after vacation! And Happy Martin Luther King Day!

I hope you are refreshed and ready to jump into the new year and the new semester. Library staff are ready to work with you and your students. Come on in and see what we have to help you and your students make this the best year yet.
This newsletter will focus on one of our least know resources - Brainfuse - and class visits for all grades from preschool to high school.
How the Library Can Help You Help Your Students

Class Visits

The library welcomes teachers to schedule class visits at all our branches.  We welcome children of all ages...preschoolers to teenagers.

  • To schedule a visit call the Program Department at 831-427-7717 or pro@santacruzpl.org and a staff person will work out the details of your visit with you.
  • Visits usually range from 40 minutes to an hour. You  might request any of the following: tour, storytime, booktalk, a short class, checking out books, or research assistance on a specific topic.
  • If your group needs library cards, please remember that processing library cards takes more time.
  • Scheduling a visit for your group ahead of time means that there will be library staff expecting you and ready to help you--and that the children will have a successful and fun experience.

We enjoy showing everyone what the library can offer. So don't hesitate...if you are a homeschooling family, a teacher, or a group leader...we are ready to welcome you.     See you soon!
