It's Only August! Can Summer Be Over Already?

The answer is "YES!" if you equate the end of summer with the beginning of school.
Most schools in Santa Cruz County are back in session by August 19, which means teachers and school staff are back working in mid-August.
The Santa Cruz Public Library's Summer Reading program officially ended on August 10.
Be sure to ask your students about their experiences at the library when you go back to school.

The library has a great new opportunity for educators who teach at any Santa Cruz County School.

We are introducing the Educator Card!

Beginning this month (August), the Santa Cruz Public Libraries will be issuing cards for teachers and school librarians who teach at a school or preschool in Santa Cruz County. These special "Educator Cards" will allow extended borrowing privileges and will not be subject to overdue fines. Educators can check out up to five items from the same Dewey subject and have up to 100 items out on the card, which will be due 6 weeks from checkout. If you are interested in applying for an Educator Card, contact the library by email at k12@santacruzpl.org.

Let us help you help your students!

There's a special page on the Santa Cruz Public Library website for Teachers and Parents: Take a look and you will find a form to request a class visit at your local branch or in your classroom. New this year is Assignment Alert.
