Starting September 10, 2018, the Santa Cruz Public Libraries will no longer charge overdue fines on children's or teen materials. And as a special gift to our patrons for our 150th anniversary, on September 9th we will waive all existing fines and fees on children's and teen materials. This is a fresh start for many people who have cards that are blocked by fines and fees. Come (back) to the library and use your library card or sign up for a new library card.
More About Summer Reading
The last day to turn in Summer Reading Booklets (or Adult Summer Reading Bingo Cards) for Book Bucks (or raffle coupons) is Friday, August 17.

As of today - August 16, 3846 Kids and Teens signed up for Summer Reading. So far 39.5% have signed out and collected Book Bucks. The rest are still reading and enjoying the last few days before school starts. The average number of Book Bucks collected system wide is 19.1 (out of a possible maximum of 20). That means most kids have read at least 20 hours this summer.
The Library hosted 235 programs (not including the Festival of the Book) for 6731 people from June 1 to the present. Over 600 people enjoyed the Festival of the Book at Harvey West Park on July 29.

Most Library programming resumes the week of September 10. Check out our online calendar for the schedule for Homework Help, R.E.A.D., Tales to Tails, STEAM programs and more.
