A couple months ago at The Wing previous podcast guest Seher Sikandar introduced me to the friend she was having coffee with, today's guest Selome Araya. She was bright, friendly, and I liked her right away. Seher connected us and as I learned more about her work I was hooked.

Selome is a reiki master, doula, and holistic healer who specializes in the link between spirituality and depression. We talked about her experience with depression and a highly sensitive person. She shares with us how to know if you are highly sensitive and if so, how to protect yourself. We got into ancestral wounds, what that means and how to heal your lineage through healing yourself. We also talked about aging and not being where you expected to be by a certain age as well as solo travel as therapy.

"Typically, people in their late 20’s might reflect on the strange beds they’ve slept in, but I tend to ponder the strange tables I’ve laid on with heating pads, needles stuck in me, and essential oils diffusing throughout the room. I’ve spent thousands of dollars on healers and workshops all in the name of “bettering myself.”

The decade of my 20’s had become a meandering holistic spiritual quest. I’m not exactly sure what I’d been searching for or if I’d found it — but what I know for sure is that it cost me a lot of time and money."

If you loved this week's episode, definitely check out this episode with Cat Lantigua. Cat also hosts a podcast, wears many hats, and we moved to New York the same month. After I had her over to my apartment a few weeks ago to record this episode, I realized we related to each other in even more ways than I expected.

Vitruvi makes lovely essential oils and diffusers. I have the ceramic diffuser and love to put frankincense and lavender in there. Their products are so elegant and fit in perfectly with the vibe and decor of my room.

Their diffuser and essential oils are so lovely and make great gifts. Check ’em out with the link below.
