A Mindful Moment

Every moment is an opportunity to begin again.

I have been needing a new start this year and if there ever was a time to begin again, it surely must be now.  Do you feel the same way? It's been an unstable year, and the uncertainty weighs on us - consciously or subconsciously.  So, it's especially important now - more than ever - to take care of ourselves. What are you doing to take care for yourself? I am trying to stay active, get outdoors a lot, meditate, and make time for activities that inspire me (nature walks, writing, reading) - well, whatever I can alongside working and homeschooling! I'd love to know what you are doing, however big or small - what keeps you going? Whatever you choose to do regularly is a gift to yourself. I like to think of it as an anchor in an otherwise shifting landscape.

This moment is an opportunity to pause, make space, and start again.
A moment for inspiration:

"When you really start to take a journey, you're going to find that it's often inconvenient.  But, once you know that the purpose of life is simply to walk forward and continually use your life to wake you up rather than put you to sleep, then there's that sense of wholeheartedness about inconvenience. Wholeheartedness is a precious gift, but no one can actually give it to you. You have to choose your path and then walk forward. Since you are wholeheartedly committed to the journey, it pricks you, it pokes you. It's like someone laughing in your ear, challenging you to figure out what to do when you don't know what to do. It humbles you. It opens your heart."

I would love to build a community to support us
as we move forward from this moment to the next.

Reply to this email with one (or more) words on what you are doing to take care of yourself.  I will make a WordCloud to share our ideas with each other!

I hope you enjoy this mindful moment and let me know if you'd like to join me for the weekly mindfulness or yoga sessions I am offering.  Or just write back so that we can take a moment to connect. 😊
My yoga practice is definitely what keeps me strong (even when I feel limp).  I would love to work with you to develop your yoga practice, if that's something you have been wanting to do. I will work with you on strength, flexibility and balance - not only on the mat, but also on how you can apply these practices to your life.

My new 6-week yoga series on getting back to (or getting going with) a yoga practice (via Zoom) begins on November 6.  See my website for more details - or reply to this email if you have questions!
Do the words equanimity or self compassion sometimes feel like treasures that are gathering dust on your shelf? Mindfulness practices provide a foundation for greater balance and new perspectives.

I will be offering a 30-minute weekly mindfulness practice (on Zoom), on Tuesdays at 8 PM, beginning on November 10.  If you are interested in joining, see the details
here or reply to this email to let me know, and I'll send you the link and details!

By the way, you don't need more than 5 minutes to notice a shift in your experiences.

Here's a 5-Minute Anywhere Meditation you could try on SoundCloud. I'd love to know if it works for you, let me know!
