2016 was a good year for the Richmond Centre for Disability (RCD). We served 26,000 people with disabilities coming through the doors of the RCD in the 2015-2016 fiscal year; this is a significant number that says a lot about us. In addition to close to 30 weekly activities, we managed hosting 6 annual events; and over 40 training sessions and public education events. We assisted in 31 community events where we were in touch with close to 2,000 community members.
As we move forward in 2017 and beyond, we are proud of what the RCD accomplished in 2016 and excited about the future. Our community is strong and vibrant, and together we will continue our efforts to:
- further reduce and hopefully ultimately eliminate barriers to accessibility; and
- uphold the rights of every citizen including people with disabilities; and
- safeguard sustainable support, prevent service erosion, and ensure human dignity for all populations in Canada.
