Metz Congress follow up

Metz was a success: There is simply no better way to put it. The Metz Congress was an extraordinary opportunity for learning and exchanging ideas. We were joined by representatives from almost all IBF member societies and had additional representation from the WONCA Young Doctors Movement. The newsletter this month will mostly focus on items from the Congress, including photos!

Waiting for...

Finally the wait was over: Congress delegates began arriving on 4 September, including the Board which met on the 5th. The long months of preparation were well worth it. Attendees shared the following: "warm memories from a great conference," "Thank you for a great experience in Metz/Nancy," "I had a very enjoyable time in Metz and like everyone else I thought the Congress was a brilliant success!"

General Assembly

Brief highlights:
  • Outgoing Board member Kristiina Toivola (Finland) was thanked for her service, and we welcomed new Board members Jorge Brandao (Portugal) Michele Paree (Belgium).
  • A final decision on funding support for the 2015 Ascona Student Prize book was referred to the Board by the Assembly.
  • Treasurer Mark Budow presented our interim accounts and how we stand against our budget. New Auditors Pia Soderberg (Sweden) and Janet Walker (USA) were welcomed, and Juanita Forssell was thanked for her enormously valuable work as an Auditor while our transition to Swedish banking and non-profit registration was in process.
  • A lively discussion of the benefits of IBF participation was held with encouragement to avoid conflicting dates of member society meetings whenever possible.
Other items will be covered below. Please click here for the full draft minutes, which will be approved at our next Council meeting in Salzburg.

New website construction

Please review and give feedback: We are conducting a thorough overhaul of our website, aiming to make it more modern, attractive and easy to update. You may download a set of sample pages here. The photos will be changed so ignore those. Please have a look and let us know what you think by November 1!
