Art in the Weave: Early American Coverlets, the Spence Collection

on display through March 28, 2015
Early American Coverlets from the Spence CollectionThis collection will make you wonder why you haven’t spent more time looking for your own piece of American history. Handwoven coverlets from the 1800’s were made by women and men as necessary items. Today the art in their designs, use of color, durability, and charm is hard to miss. This slice of America’s material culture is now on display in the FACES gallery for visitors who want to experience a lost art form.

Men at Work: Looking at the Local Artist
on display through March 28, 2015
George Simacourbe

In an art form often dominated in modern times by women, there is a different point of view to be found - the male perspective. Through various media the male fiber artist does not create to define their gender but to express themselves in this versatile media. Come help us to honor the work of some local artists who are experimenting in the world of fiber.

Come by and see the work of:

Jim Fons â€“ Rug Hooker

George Laufert â€“ Embroider

Demian Savits â€“ Dyer

George Simacourbe â€“ Quilter
