As summer approaches, join us in celebrating how God has been strengthening WHEN and reaching more women for Christ!

Strengthening the WHEN Tree

Felicia Lee, the newest member of the WHEN Executive Team reflects on her involvement with WHEN and how she can’t help but be amazed at God’s handiwork.
They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:8)

Our WHEN team reminds me of this tree. It is a medium that God uses to grow women and produce kingdom fruit. WHEN has grown from a seedling of one team hosting the first event in 2008 to now being a tree with 5 teams (branches) and 7 events this year with ever increasing fruit.

As we grow, I'm excited to work on strengthening our WHEN tree, through creating systems and processes. We are working on structures that will  support the growing number of teams, increase our efficiencies, and improve our communication across teams. Our hope is that it will help save time when we plan events and small groups, such that we can focus more on building relationships and inviting others to experience the hope and salvation that is Jesus. Stay tuned!

Growing Her Guest List

Six co-workers came with Kathleen to the Edmonton event in May. It is the third time she has brought friends and she says, “I’ll invite more next time!” Why? In a Discovery Group Kathleen learned that with God, all things are possible. Connecting with Jesus has changed her from being easily stressed to having God’s peace in her mind and heart. “I want to touch others’ lives. My co-workers are often very worried … Hearing the stories of other women inspires them.” Because she knows seeking Him will transform their lives, Kathleen also invites her friends to church. “Four of us started to attend on Sundays, now there are 11!”

Building Our Friendships

Summer is a great opportunity to casually spend time with friends, especially those we have invited or would like to invite to WHEN events. As we get together, let’s ask the Holy Spirit to help us understand and care for them. God can show us how to help carry their burden, celebrate their accomplishments, or share one of His truths to set them free.

Doug Pollock, in the book, God Space, says that "we are never more than a few wondering questions away from a good spiritual conversation.

Click here to see Pollock’s list of 99 Wondering Questions to help spiritual conversations flow more naturally.  Take some time this summer to read the questions and try out your favourites! As we become better listeners, we are likely to see where God is working in our friends' lives and how we can join Him.

What Our Guests Have Said

I have further comfort that my life experiences (good & sad) are not unique and that Jesus is still with me.
Linda, April 11th Intercultural Event

It was a nice experience, to know that there is a group of women living their faith in Christ, who are willing to help others to find him, giving their time freely and doing it in a fun way that talks about real life situations.
Marcela, April 18th Spanish Event

Only God's companionship that comes when we open our hearts to him enables us to live happily beyond our challenges, fears or doubts.
Marilu , April 18th Spanish Event

I thoroughly enjoyed the interview and prayer. I believe it has a strong message whether you are a Christian or not, to put your faith in the One who controls it completely.
Edessa, May 16th Filipino Event

As guests move from simply attending to also inviting, this ripple effect carries the Good News to more people and strengthens our network. It's exciting to see more and more women inviting their friends to come experience the grace of Jesus Christ through WHEN events.
