Somebody like you.
Get involved.

UPDATE NO. 4B
To review past updates, click on the links below.
Update 4B has been issued unplanned from a very pissed off and angry editor.
Let’s repeat our oft repeated slogan at the top of every update issue:-

‘Because it’s our Rugby Club and Somebody’s got to fix it’
‘Somebody like you’
‘Get involved’
That ‘somebody like you’ is YOU – yes YOU.
Me? – Yes you
Re-read issue No. 4

Head coach, Lachlan White, requested for assistance to get 10 of his playing group to the Briars Rugby Lunch on June 16 by Briars Old Boys sponsoring a player for $100 and the player paying $50.
Within minutes of update no.4 announcing this Andy Clifford and Bill Leckie, both players from the 1960’s were on the phone with $100 and by the days end we had 14 sponsors.

Fabulous result.  Lachlan White will determine which 10 players and we will also sponsor the coaching group (5) to the lunch for introduction to all attendees. Lachlan wants his players to experience Briars culture, tradition and heritage.

However,  once again it’s the same people.
So, let’s look at who did and did not contribute.

BECAUSE IT’S OUR RUGBY CLUB AND SOMEBODY’S GOT TO FIX IT!

UNBELIEVABLE!

Fellahs, you can’t play anymore, you can’t coach anymore, you won’t administer anymore! – at least support those Briars who can.

Letter of the Week

Letter from Lynne Elder, sister of Mike Elder, fullback for the unbeaten 1964 Invincibles .  Lynne is actually an OAM but she did not sign so.
“I have seen your proposed re-unions at Rothwell on home games which I very much commend and intend attending  some.  But how come the  Briars most famous team, the 1964 unbeaten Kentwell Cup Premiers, are not being given a re-union at Rothwell?”

Editor response:-

Thank you Lynne.  Some of us still remember you from the 60’s (very fondly too!!)
Lynne, the 1964 Invincibles was the team most people wanted.  However, as you may be aware, most of the team are continually on speaking engagements at rugby functions around the globe.   The demands for Invincibles as speakers to share the secrets of achieving unbeaten status is incessant and only 5 ’64 players were available during the season.

The Invincibles leadership advises that they will invite you to their next re-union which is scheduled for Briars 2018 Centenary year.
