Pay It Forward

Pay It Forward - Supporting our Local Hospital Personnel _ February 1,2021

We are pandemic exhausted...Medical staff and personnel at our hospitals are even more exhausted and morale is very low.

Our Local Missions Committee wants to provide them with some care and support. With the guidance of Anthony Walls, MD at VCMC, we are "Paying it Forward" and purchasing approximately 150 cups of coffee for VCMC and CMH hospital personnel on 2/1/21 from Simones located next to CMH.

We are encouraging YOU to write notes of appreciation on a facemask or send a picture of you wearing your face mask that will be made added to a banner decorated by the Children's Ministry kids. It will be delivered to the Ventura hospitals on 2/1/21 along with a letter from Pastor Matt.

This is one small way to care and appreciate the staff and to say to our community "We Care". (Funds come from the Local Mission tithed portion of the Thrive Campaign.)

Please drop off or mail your notes/pictures to the Church office by 11 am on JANUARY 31st. Or email them to and we will print them for you.

Small groups are a big deal! They help you grow by connecting with others, studying the Bible, and praying together. Contact Jo Schultze ( or Richard Smith ( or text 805-766-6549) to learn more.

Casting Stones - Thoughts with Pastor Matt

This week's Thoughts with Pastor Matt.

We all judge people and we think we are justified in our judgments. However, we are NOT justified nor qualified to make these judgments. The only one who is is God. In His infinite wisdom, He knows our hearts and sees the whole picture.

When God makes His judgments He does it with Mercy and Grace! Our challenge for this week is the next time we are quick to make a judgment, think of the very best about the person with the most sympathetic light.

John 8:7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”

This Sunday…

The Book of Daniel

We live in a culture that is often foreign and hostile to our faith. The book of Daniel is a collection of stories and prophecies written about Jewish believers living in the hostile foreign land of Babylon during the Exile. Therefore, the book of Daniel can teach us a lot about standing firm and living faithfully counter to the culture in which we find ourselves.

This Week's Messages!

Trial by Fire: The Price of Faith

Daniel 3:1-30

At times there will be a price to pay for standing firm in our faith counter to our culture, but if we do, God is faithful and will take care of us no matter what happens.

This week the City has activated its Winter Weather Response Plan to provide temporary shelters and stay warm packs for our most vulnerable population during this week's wind and rain events.

In this video, Meredith Hart, the City's Safe and Clean Program Manager takes you behind the scenes to share how the shelter plan works, what services are provided, and how the community can get involved.

This Winter Weather Shelter Plan is made possible thanks to a joint partnership with the River Community Church.

Visit to learn more about the Winter Weather Shelter Plan or provide donations for stay warm packs for our homeless individuals in Ventura.

Donation items can also be brought to the Church Office M-F 10 am to Noon, or on Sunday mornings look for the blue bins!
