Dear CYBBies,

What an incredible year it has been! 2016 has been a year of tremendous blessings and growth. We look towards 2017 with the joy filled Advent anticipation  of saying YES to journeying with Christ.  We have lots to look forward to - Praisefests, Twilight Talks, CYBB training days, Parish Hubs and of course ACYF 2017 :)

CYBB Christmas & new year break.
The CYBB office will be closing Tuesday 20 December and will reopen Monday 9 January. During this time we will not be replying to emails or answering the phones (Kelly will try very hard to stop working!) If you do contact us during this time we will get back to you as soon as we can in the new year.
Many thanks for allowing us the time to celebrate this Holy season with our loved ones.

CYBB Training Days are an opportunity to gather young people and youth leaders interested and involved in local ministry to network and receive essential spiritual and practical formation. It is an opportunity to enable potential and present leaders to be better equipped to serve local communities around key areas of knowledge and formation.
4 training days will be held across the year, early in the school term to allow for greater impact on the ministry in the local context. Each day will include 3 components – Prayer & Catechesis, ‘Mission’ training, and practical skills and resources.
            Theme:   Youth Ministry 101
            Date:   Saturday 28 January, 2017
            Time:   9:30am -1:00 pm
            Venue:   Light of Christ Centre, Waitara
From 1:00pm we will share meal and enjoy some summer inspired fun. You may want to bring a change of clothes!
CYBB Training Day RSVP
Twilight Talks is a regular event for young adults (18+), in our Diocese to connect with the community, share a meal, pray and be nourished by inspiring speakers. Throughout 2017 the themes of the night will be aligned with the focus areas of “Anointed and Sent – An Australian vision for Catholic Youth Ministry”
            Theme:   Weak made Strong
            Guest Speaker:   Fr David Ranson
            Date:   Wednesday 8 February 2017
            Time:   6:30 -9:00 pm
            Venue:   Bees Knees Cafe, Hornsby
The cafe will have their kitchen open for you to purchase drinks and food.
Twilight Talks RSVP
PRAISEFEST is an opportunity to gather young people together around the Eucharist and the sacrament of Reconciliation. These nights are to be kerygmatic, focused on the good news of Jesus Christ as witnessed through the Gospels. The specific themes throughout the year will be related to the liturgical calendar.
The evening will start with fellowship and a meal, before moving into the host parish church or hall for a youth rally. The evening will include energetic and contemporary worship, scripture, preaching and a sacramental response like Adoration and Reconciliation.
            Theme:   Packing for the Desert
            Date:   Friday 24 February 2017
            Time:   6:00 -9:00 pm
            Venue:   Host Parish to be announced

Alpha is an opportunity to explore life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. 
In 2017 our Hubs will be beginning the Alpha journey - Stay tuned for more details

Australian Catholic Youth Festival 
Put it in your calendar now, start inviting your friends and ask your parish/school community for their support.
7-9 December 2017
Open to students in year 9 to young adults aged 25.

Over 25? CYBB will also be looking for leaders and the festival will need lots of volunteers.
This is an event you will not want to miss!

The theme for the Year of Youth 2018 has been announced:
Opening new horizons for spreading joy; Young people, faith and vocational discernment.
