Pope Francis reminded us at World Youth Day 2018, we have been chosen to be accompanied on our journey of faith by the example of our blessed Mother. We must not allow our fears to cripple us from responding to what God is asking of us. And so we are excited to journey toward WYD Panama 2019, to listen as our lady did and respond with a big "Yes". We also look forward to the year of "Discernment", to listen and pray to the Spirit to lead and guide the Australian Church during these challenging times.
Don't forget to take time off during advent to reflect on the Gospel message of Christmas. It's easy to get caught up in the festivities that we can forget its purpose. From all of us here at the CYBB team we wish you a blessed and joyful Christmas! See you all in 2019!

year of youth news.
The beginning of all things new to come
It's been one amazing Year of Youth!!! This year our focus, our prayer and the reflection of the Church turned to young people with the desire to receive and embrace the precious gift that you are to God, to the Church and to the world. Continue to reach out and inspire those around you and be disciples of God's love to all those you encounter.
As this year of youth has drawn to a close, we look forward with great enthusiasm and vigor to continue spreading the gospel message of Christ love to all the world. We take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for taking risks in this year of youth to grow in your faith, to listen to God speak to your heart and to respond. We give thanks to our CYBBies who have 'Opened New Horizons for Spreading Joy' in this Year of Youth 2018. As this year has now drawn to a close we walk forward together to'Listen to what the Spirit is saying'.

Plenary 2020 - Christmas Welcome cards for Parishes
We strongly encourage youth to make individual/group submissions to the Plenary 2020 that will have a significant influence on the direction of the future Church of Australia. Creating a Church that is young and vibrant lies in the hands of us as Youth. You are asked to pray, reflect, dialogue and listen to the Spirit and each other on "What do you think God is asking of the Church in Australia at this time?" Have your say and take an initiative through the Plenary 2020 ChristmasCampaign to reach out, welcome, and evangelize those less engage with the Church and faith as their perspectives too will benefit the future of the Church. Christmas postcards have been posted to parishes, so do support this initiative of hospitality and welcome this Christmas.
resources for the month.
You’re counting down the days ‘til Christmas and ticking off each item on your long list of things to do – buy gifts, go to Christmas parties, finish up the school or working year, or book holidays. Where do we find the God who gave us the very reason we celebrate in the midst of our busyness?
He says ‘Meet Me in the Silence’. In the middle of the rush that often comes with the season, the 2018 Advent Calendar App can help you take a few moments out of your day to prepare spiritually for Christmas – wherever you are.
With thanks to Xt3 and Sydney Catholic Youth, The Advent Calendar, geared towards youth but useful to all, is a website and a downloadable App that contains a variety of videos, podcasts, and written reflections, providing a means to encounter the true spirit of Christmas in their everyday lives.

listen. Get ready up for Christmas with Shane and Shane. Listen to their fresh version of O Holy Night
The word 'Advent' is derived from a Latin word meaning 'coming' or 'to come'. It is a time when we are invited to reflect on the coming of Christ, his humility in becoming human and understanding the promises that have been fulfilled from the Old Testament.
This resource can be used in small groups, or individually, at this time, to prepare and facilitate Advent reflection.
