Royal Flying Doctor Service Partners with IAHA 

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) and IAHA have partnered to support the growth of a skilled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander remote and rural allied health workforce. The RFDS have provided $10,000 scholarship funding, which will be administered by IAHA, to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander allied health students undertake remote and rural clinical payments.

IAHA member features in PM celebration of Indigenous professionals


Indigenous Allied Health Australia (IAHA)  attended the Celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Professionals hosted by the Hon. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull MP on the 13 February 2017. Indigenous Leaders deliver Redfern Statement to Prime Minister Turnbull

IAHA joined Australia’s leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations to demand a new relationship with government as they deliver the historic Redfern Statement direct to the Prime Minister at Parliament House. Read more here and check out the video below

Improved Code of Ethics for Pharmacists

IAHA welcomes the release of the revised Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) Code of Ethics for Pharmacists (the Code) on 8 February 2017. The Code articulates the values of the pharmacy profession and expected standards of ethical behaviour of pharmacists towards individuals, the community and society and underpins the professional practice of all pharmacists in Australia. CTG17: Allied Health Sector re-commits to Statement of Intent

Join IAHA, AHPA its member and friend organisation to witness the re-commitment to a statement of intent to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing. 

Closing the Gap 2017 report released

The Prime Minister has delivered the ninth annual report to Parliament on progress in Closing the Gap. The 2017 Closing the Gap Report shows that there have been mixed levels of success in meeting the targets set by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) in 2008. The report also showcases many local achievements and individual stories of success from across the country. To read more about the report, click here

IAHA is pleased to announce that we will be holding the 4th Biennial National Conference at the Rendezvous Hotel in Perth, Western Australia from the 27 - 30 November 2017. Call for abstracts will open in April 2017.

IAHA would like to congratulate June Oscar AO on her appointment as the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner by the Australian Human Rights Commission. June is a proud Bunuba woman from Fitzroy Crossing in Western Australia, has devoted her career to improving the health and welfare of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, particularly those living in remote areas. RFDS 2017 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Scholarships

IAHA will administer the $10,000 allied health-specific scholarship funding pool to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander allied health students who are IAHA full student members to undertake a remote or rural clinical placement of at least four weeks’ duration. Read more...


Roberta Sykes Scholarship

The Roberta Sykes Scholarship provides supplementary financial assistance to Indigenous postgraduate students who wish to undertake studies at recognised overseas universities. Read more...
