Coachmakers is for young people aged 16-18 interested in getting in to the sports industry; gain confidence and work experience. It is a full time, 9 month programme and participants will achieve qualifications in coaching, activity leadership, functional skills and first aid.  On competion of the course, there is the chance to apply for a paid apprenticeship placement or progress to a level 3 programme. Start date is 8th September 2015.

Count Me In 2015
Cymaz Music are holding their “Count me in!” conference on April 15th at Heartlands. 

It is a one day event aimed to highlight, debate and share current ideas and thinking in Music Education. Click here for more info.

Tan Fest 2015
Swamp Circus are holding Tan Fest this weekend, 5th and 6th April, at Wendron Football Club in Helston. 

Big Top celebration, family fun, creative workshops, live bands, circus performance, rides and stalls.

Useful Psychology for Youth Work

PCDT are running a new course, An Introduction to Useful Psychology for Youth Work to help answer questions like: 'How can I challenge negative beliefs without ruining our rapport?' and 'How can I support myself?'

Following the Life After Cornwall Works with Families sessions, follow the links for the topic based resource sheets;

The resources are designed to give you an overview of the main places to access support and are not intended to act as a full list. In some cases i.e. Families there is already a comprehensive list on the Family Information Services Directory.

Universal Credit - Cornwall Roll Out

Universal Credit will roll out in a phased approach to new claims from single people who would otherwise have been eligible for Jobseeker’s Allowance, including those with existing Housing Benefit and Working Tax Credit claims.
The dates for Cornwall are stated as:
Bude, Redruth and St Austell JCP - 18th May 2015
Bodmin, Penzance and Truro JCP - 15th June 2015
Helston, Launceston, Liskeard, Newquay and Penryn & Falmouth JCP - 13th July 2015

Applications Open for Ambition's Volunteer Award
Applications are now open for The Duke of Gloucester’s Volunteer Award. Ambition's brand new award scheme formally recognises the achievement of individuals (aged 10+) in supporting local young people, youth clubs and community projects. Anyone over 10 years old can apply or be nominated by someone else. There will be six category winners, and an overall winner who will be presented with a cash prize at Ambition’s Royal Gala Dinner at Kensington Palace on 7 July 2015. Jonny and the Baptists Rock the Vote

The Future of Safe Network

Safe Network's Department for Education contract finished at the end of March 2015 and this will have an impact on what is on offer. The website and core safeguarding resources will continue, however the offer of regional support will cease. Visit the website for more information.
Active Communities Funding

The People’s Health Trust has opened up their Active Communities programme for applications seeking investment of up to £50,000. Deadline for applications is 10th April at 11am. This fund is only applicable to projects located in specific areas, therefore, check the map via the link to see if your project is eligible. Follow the links below.

Commisioning Masterclass
NCVO are delivering a commissioning masterclass in Taunton on 18th May 2015, to help participants understand the new funding landscape, alongside networking with commissioners and similar organisations.  The event aims to build the commercial skills of charities and social enterprises so you can be more successful in bidding for and delivering public service contracts.
This course is for senior managers and trustees of charities and social enterprises that work in the fields of health, wellbeing and social care. Participants should already be experienced in charity management, and/or operating projects or services.
