What Are Employers Looking for from Education and Skills?
A Summary of Recent Research

CYWP have produced a report which summarises some local and national research that look at the question of what employers need from education and skills programmes. The local research was a small employer survey carried out for Cornwall Integrated Youth Service as part of the Accreditation Review in December 2012. The review was written by the National Youth Agency (NYA) and the Regional Youth Work Unit (RYWU). The two national reports are the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) Education and Skills Survey 2012 and the Wolf Report, published in 2011.

Volunteer Cornwall seek Mentors

Volunteer Cornwall are recruiting for young Volunteer Mentors/Buddies to offer additional support to Freestyle learners aged 16-19 (21-25 with complex needs) who are currently not in education, employment or training. Volunteers will work alongside a trained member of staff to get an understanding of the needs of the young person, identifying goals and objectives and helping them work towards these.
Expenses are paid, mentoring training and an enhanced CRB provided; so if you are aged 21 or over, flexible, with good communication skills with a range of people and an ability to relate to this client group, contact Steve Roberts at
