Refugee Week

The British Red Cross is transforming Falmouth’s Gyllyngvase beach into a cinema under the stars for one night only, this Refugee Week.

The charity has organised the outdoor cinema event as its contribution to the UK-wide programme of arts, cultural and educational events celebrating the contribution of refugees to the UK and promoting better understanding of why people seek sanctuary.  The free double bill features films highlighting some of the issues experienced by refugees.

The event starts at 9pm on Falmouth’s Gyllyngvase Beach on Friday 20 June. Tickets are free on the door but donations are welcome. Bring a blanket to sit on and refreshments.

Opportunities
Children's Health and Wellbeing Services Review

Health commissioned services for children under the age of 19 years old, currently operate in a number of ways, delivered by a range of providers, across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. NHS Kernow is taking the opportunity to review the provision of those services and is seeking the opinion of staff, GPs and interested parties for phase two of the review, to explore responses to the themes identified in phase one and to contribute to the development of a Case for Change and Options Paper.

The Children’s Health and Wellbeing Services Review Phase Two Survey is now available for completion and can be found by clicking here. Please complete by Monday 30th June.
Headstart Kernow

Young People Cornwall, as part of the Headstart Kernow project, have been tasked with ensuring young people are at the heart of the development and delivery of the project in its pilot year and in the development of the phase 2 bid.

Young people from across Cornwall have shaped the first phases of the project. Now that the pilot areas (Locality 1 & 6) have been chosen, YPC are keen to bring in young people specifically from those areas to the Lead Young People’s Consultation Group (LYPCG).

Though the Headstart project is aimed at 10-14 year olds, the LYPCG group can have older young people who have a particular interest in improving services around emotional wellbeing and resilience.

If this is something you feel young people would like to get involved in, please contact Jem Verran on 07843 288 312 or by email.
