Indigenous Business Networking

Friday Coffee Morning - 31st November 2014 in Ipswich

I promised you that we would be moving our Indigenous Business Networking events across the region, and we're now officially on the move.

It's been a great start to this initiative, with around 26 people attending our two events held in Brisbane's north. Each week we've had new faces attending. We've met Indigenous businesses - established and emerging, and non-Indigenous businesses who partner with our businesses. We've also met a few NGOs, and researchers. I've also received plenty of emails and messages from people thanking us for the initiative, and letting us know they will be attending one in the future.

Networking is about building relationships, and we've had a few members testify that the Friday Coffee Mornings have helped them to make connections that will benefit their businesses in the short and long term.

Over the next two weeks, our event will move to Ipswich and the Sunshine Coast. This will give those Indigenous businesses who are outside Brisbane an opportunity to connect.

As usual, we will continue to update our Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn channels, to keep you up-to-date with what we're up to.

Hope to see you online or face-to-face soon.

Have a great week,
Leesa Watego, Acting President, SEQICC and CEO, Iscariot Media.

Be an Indigenous Business Networking Host in 2015

Let's keep networking!

What does it take to be a host of an Indigenous Business Networking - Friday Coffee Morning?
As I've said, in order for this event to be successful we need to travel it across the region. But we can't know what a great cafe is in your area. That's why we're asking our members to contribute by being hosts in their region.

All it takes is a bit of time, a few phonecalls to your local cafe, and working with the SEQICC team. We've created a document to support prospective hosts. Have a read and contact me ( to let me know what date works for you:

The document includes information on:

  1. What's the host's responsibility?
  2. What does the SEQICC do for the event?
  3. How to approach your local cafe?
  4. The 2014/2015 South East Queensland - Indigenous Business Networking Calendar

Need inspiration for the event? Here's the vision for the Indigenous Business Networking event.
