BUILDING RENOVATION MOVES FORWARD!

Since purchasing the Presbyterian church in November, Ken Weinstein, the owner and developer of the building in which WVC hopes to take root, has been very busy. Among other things, Mr. Weinstein has:
  • Worked with a civil engineer to prepare the property for construction.
  • Successfully removed all asbestos from the building.
  • Hired and begun working intensively with Morris Zimmerman of BWA Architecture on turning the church school building into a condominium complex. Mr. Zimmerman has spent the last month or so "getting his arms around the property" and reviewing preliminary designs.
Over the next 4-6 weeks, WVC expects to meet with Mr. Weinstein and Mr. Zimmerman to share with them our input into the building design aimed at making the development as "cohousing friendly" as possible.

WVC IN THE PRESS!
Alexis Stephens wrote a nice story about us in Next City These Philadelphians Want to Get Closer to Their Neighbors and our member Karey Bacon has an article in the January 2015 Weavers Way ShuttleLeap Forward for Mt. Airy Cohousing on page 20.

The Atlantic's on-line CityLab featured an article on cohousing this month: Can Boomers Make Cohousing Mainstream?
