The holiday season in Bar Harbor kicked off in mid-November with the very popular Early Bird Pajama Sale. Retailers offered shoppers wearing pajamas great discounts. After the sale the streets of Bar Harbor were lined with folks in pajamas watching the Bed Race & Pajama Parade. Teams of five raced their themed and decorated beds through the town and were awarded prizes for the fastest or best-decorated beds. The Pajama Parade was the finishing touch for a fun-filled morning.
December activities included the Village Holiday celebration complete with carolers, lighting the town tree, and the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus. After a night of dining shoppers were again in the streets to celebrate the Midnight Madness sale. The festive atmosphere continued with holiday church fairs, community theater productions, and carriage rides.
Unseasonably warm weather on the island this winter extended the time for mountain hiking, but just remember there may be ice on top so best to bring shoe traction devices. You may also access the carriage roads that offer miles of walking along scenic trails. If you are fortunate to experience the solitude that surrounds Acadia at this time of year it may prove to be magical.
In keeping with the holiday spirit we are offering a 10% discount for reservations booked by January 31, 2016 for a two-night stay or longer from May 12, 2016 – June 31, 2016.
