Dear <<First Name>>

It was wonderful to meet you! I wanted to take a moment to send you some additional information introducing Columbus. I've also included some links highlighting some of the resources available to graduate students at The Ohio State University. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to write me!

Kind regards,

Called a “Midwestern style capital” by the New York Times and one of the top-ten “Best Places to Live” by Money Magazine, Columbus is second only to Boston for number of college students. Nearly half the population falls within the 18-44 age group. Gallup rates Columbus the No. 2 metropolitan area for jobs, and we enjoy the second-highest employment rate in the country for young adults.
Columbus has been named:
  • #1 up-and-coming high-tech city (Forbes)
  • Top ten most livable city (CNN/Money Magazine)
  • #1 best place to live, work and raise a family for African Americans (BET Networks)
  • Top-25 LGBT-friendly campus (Campus Pride)
The Columbus campus offers a small town feel while providing the numerous benefits of a world-class university. Graduate students may choose to live on campus or off campus. We offer convenient, safe housing for professional, graduate and non-traditional students in our Neil Avenue Building at 1578 Neil Avenue and at the South Campus Gateway.
We provide our graduate students with the career development tools and resources necessary to be a competitive candidate in and outside of academia. These tools include membership for graduate students in the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity, an independent professional development, training and mentoring community of more than 40,000 graduate students, post-docs and faculty members.

We offer job development and placement support through the Preparing Future Faculty program, personal consultations through the Career Connection program and access to The Versatile PhD, an online community for graduate students interested in exploring non-academic careers.

Graduate students may also be eligible for Student Health InsuranceChild Careretirement options, and numerous discounts at local businesses and events.
