Dear Friends,

I'm sorry to announce that the sun is setting on the Why Not Experiment? series. This morning I learned that Whynot Jazz Room will be closing at the end of October, and reopening in a different incarnation. October bookings will take place as scheduled, but November, I'm sorry to say, has been canceled. Please see the lineup (below) for the remaining weeks of the series. If you've been saying, "I've got to get to the Why Not Experiment? Series one of these days," the time is now.

l'm grateful to Aleksandar, the manager of Whynot Jazz Room, for allowing me to create and curate the series there. Without getting too maudlin about it, I'll just say I'd been wanting to do something like this for a long time, and the opportunity presented itself at the beginning of 2014. By the end of October we'll have presented about 130 sets of music; if you'd like to see the archive, it's HERE.

I'm very, very grateful to all of you for being part of the series on and/or off the bandstand. I'm sad because I think the series was gaining traction; recently more and more people were asking for bookings, and I was in conversation with many of you about December and beyond. I never liked to book farther out than a couple months only because I know how tenuous things can be for restaurants and music venues in New York city -- I've seen so many come and go in the years I've been playing music here -- but, still, this room was a special one, and this news came as a complete surprise. If you had a booking in November, or if we'd been talking about December or later, I'm so sorry. And, again, thank you all for being part of this adventure.

The line up for the remaining weeks is below. Please go to some of these gigs so we can go out with a bang!
Love, Andrea
