Thanks for signing up, everyone! We cannot wait to share with you all the latest goings-on at True Stone, your favorite fresh, local and independent coffee roaster.

Not your average monthly newsletter.

We want this to be your ticket to the latest True Stone news as it happens. This means that if we get a new coffee in, or have a special event, you'll be the one of the first to hear about it. We'll also feature spotlights from some of our customers, quick and handy tips to remember, and so much more. Enjoy!

Meet & Greet

Say hello to Tyler Liedman, the newest True Stone coffee geek.

Hi there. I'm Tyler and I'm (sort of) new here. I'm a Twin Cities native and University of Wisconsin alum who's been in the coffee business, in one form or another, since I earned my undergrad in journalism in '08. In my spare time I enjoy riding bicycles, making music, watching sad, complicated films and escaping to the woods whenever possible. Above all I believe in three things: love, partyin', and the integrity of coffee.

I met Bruce for the first time in 2010 and was instantly impressed by his friendliness, dedication to the craft and ability to give me a part-time job. Later on, a friend and I started our own coffee shop (proudly serving True Stone, of course) and managed to be pretty good at it before I came to the hard realization that the retail management game really wasn't for me.

I like to keep things changing and challenging in both life and work, which makes being at a place like this a perfect fit. Amazing and exciting things are happening at True Stone Coffee Roasters and I can't wait to put my talents and experience to good use as a fully-fledged member of the team.

Welcome aboard, Tyler!

Imagine No Malaria

True Stone partners with Imagine No Malaria.

Imagine No Malaria is a project led by the people of the United Methodist Church that works to end Malaria in developing African countries.

The project has distributed 1.2 million insecticide-treated bed nets throughout Africa, trained over 5,400 community health workers and helped increase the availability of tests and medication at the hundreds of hospitals facilitated by the United Methodist Church.

For every retail bag of coffee that we sell on the website, we donate 50 cents to this worthy cause. The last quarter alone we raised more than $430.00. This translates into 43 bed nets that help fight malaria.

To learn more about the project, check out Imagine No Malaria's website.

New Sumatra

Our new Sumatra Gayo crop is in, and it's incredible.

Our newest coffee hails from the outskirts of Pondok Baru on the north side of Lake Tawar in Sumatra. The co-op processes their coffee using the traditional wet-hull, or giling basah, method. This processing method coupled with a growing elevation of 1100 to 1200 meters above sea level produces complex flavors in the bean.

After the coffee arrived in our warehouse, we experimented with the roast process and cupped the results. We selected a roast profile that highlights this coffee's notes of stone fruit, sweet strawberry, brown sugar, chocolate flavor and medium body.

Exclusive for newsletter subscribers: Get $3 off each lb of the new Sumatra Gayo, now through Feb. 20th! Enter the code "GAYO3OFF" at checkout (no quotes).
