Welcome to the April 2016 issue of Regional Development Australia (RDA) Moreton Bay's Grants & Funding update for business and community groups.  

RDA Moreton Bay is funded through the Australian Government to promote regional economic development, including the promotion of government programs (www.rdamoretonbay.org.au).
Australian Government 

Business

business.gov.au Grants and Assistance

 
Grants and assistance portal which includes incentives for research and development, support for small businesses, tax and duty concessions, and assistance for industries in transition. They support invention and technology development in businesses by fostering collaboration between industry and researchers. 

Business Growth Grants
Financial help for businesses that want to improve their business operations (as a result of receiving a Business Evaluation).

Capital Grants Program
Provides funding to improve non-government school capital infrastructure.


Drought Concessional Loans
If you're running a farm business that is affected by drought conditions, this program can help you recover by offering concessional loans. Closing 30 June 2016.


Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF)
The Emissions Reduction Fund will support Australian businesses and households to take practical, direct action to reduce emissions and improve the environment.

Exporting

Austrade provides general information about exporting and doing business in international markets, free of charge to Australian companies. On offer is also a range of tailored trade services for areas where there is strong demand for Austrade services and where Austrade can add the most value.

Industry Skills Fund
The fund assists industry to invest in training and support services, and to develop innovative training solutions.

Practice Incentives Programme
The Practice Incentives Programme (PIP) is aimed at supporting general practice activities.

Restart Wage Subsidy
Restart offers employers who employ and retain eligible job seekers who are over 50 up to $10,000 in assistance for a full-time employee over two years. 

Space Concession Program
Provides duty-free entry of goods imported for use in a space project, provided certain conditions are met.

Tradex Scheme
Allows an importer to gain an up-front exemption from Customs duty and GST on eligible imported goods that are intended for export.


Wage Subsidy Scheme
Employers may receive up to $1,500 as an incentive to employ a person with a disability who is registered with a Disability Employment Services provider.

Community

Capital Grants Programme
The Capital Grants Programme provides funding to assist non-government primary and secondary school communities to improve capital infrastructure.

Commonwealth Home Support Programme
The CHSP benefits frail older people and carers providing funding of around $1.6 billion in 2015/2016.

Contemporary Music Touring Program
Helps emerging and established musicians take their music on tour to Australia’s regional and remote areas. Provides assistance with touring costs such as transport, accommodation, insurance, production and marketing.


Documentaries - Screen Australia
Funding for Australian made documentaries which engage audiences with Australian culture, identity and an Australian viewpoint on the world. There are several streams of funding available under this category.


Drama Production
Funding for general TV drama, children's drama, internationally focused high-end television production and other forms of drama programming.


Elite Indigenous Travel and Accommodation Assistance Program
This program provides funding for Indigenous sportspeople who have been selected in an official state/territory team to compete at national championships or the official Australian team to compete at an international competition. The program assists with eligible out-of-pocket travel and accommodation expenses only.

Farm Household Allowance
Help for farmers and their families experiencing financial hardship.

Feature Film Production
Funding for audience-engaging features of any genre. The two funding streams available are: production funding and completion/post-production funding.


Individuals Fund
Provides funding for artists and cultural workers (emerging and established) to participate in professional opportunities.  Closing 12 April 2016.


Local Sporting Champions Grant
The Local Sporting Champions program is designed to support young people participating in state, national and international level sporting championships as either an athlete, coach or official.

Sponsorship Funding 
Sponsorship will be considered for initiatives, events and activities that are outside the scope of funding provided to assist eligible organisations to deliver human services, and educational and preventative activities.

Business 

Advance Queensland Knowledge Transfer Partnerships Program
Funding of up to $50,000 per project is available to help businesses with the cost of hiring a graduate to work on an innovative project. Closing Friday 22 April 2016.

Business Development Fund
Queensland businesses at the forefront of commercialising cutting edge research or innovative ideas, products or services have an opportunity to access $40 million of investment to help unlock their innovative potential.


Drought Relief Assistance Scheme (DRAS)
This is a scheme set up by the Queensland Government to help primary producers in the grazing industry manage their livestock resource during drought. Maximum $20,000 per property per annum.

Early Childhood Education and Care Grants
Grants for Early Childhood Education and Care Services - Grant funding programs.


Export Skills Development
Offers monitoring, networking and skills development assistance for export-ready businesses.

First Start Loans - Primary Producer
First Start Loans provide you with finance of up to $650,000 to assist you in the early years of establishing your primary production enterprise.

Indigenous Business Australia - Business Development and Assistance Program
Provides support, funding and loans for indigenous people looking to start or grow a small to medium business.

Mentoring for Growth (M4G)
Provides access to a panel of business mentors who can help to address commercial challenges.

Sustainability Loan 
Provide funding to cover capital costs to achieve a more productive and sustainable primary production enterprise.

Community

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Student Scholarships

ANZAC Day Trust Fund
The Anzac Day Trust Fund offers annual payments to institutions, organisations or associations who provide assistance to ex-service men and women and their dependents.

Aspiring Teacher Grants
The Aspiring Teacher Grants provide a one-off cash incentive of $1,500 to high-achieving Year 12 school leavers starting a teaching degree at a Queensland university.

Celebrating Multicultural Queensland Grants Program
Funding is for events and projects will celebrate and promote Queensland’s multicultural identity, increase community awareness of benefits of multiculturalism, foster community cohesion, and support equal access to opportunities by people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Community Benefit Fund
The Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation (OLGR) Community Benefit Funds Unit (CBFU) distributes revenue from gaming taxes to various not-for-profit community groups throughout Queensland.  Next round closes 31 May 2016.

Disability Community Event Grants
Disability Community Event Grants are offered each year, providing  funding of up to $5,000 for events and activities that welcome and include people with disability in everyday life.

Get Playing Plus Program
Get Playing Plus is part of the Queensland Government’s Get in the Game initiative designed to support sport and recreation at the grassroots level. The program assists in developing places and spaces that increase participation opportunities, meet service gaps and address regional needs.


NatureAssist
NatureAssist is a grants program where money is paid to landholders who are willing to sign a nature refuge agreement over part or all of the property, conserving it as a habitat for wildlife.

Organisations Fund
The Organisations Fund provides multi-year funding to contribute to the core operations of small to medium organisations in delivering arts and cultural activities that generate public value to Queensland.


Playing Queensland Touring Fund
Provides funding to increase the number of touring arts productions, extend the reach of the tours and double the touring arts experiences in regional communities.

Projects and Programs Fund
Supports arts and cultural activities and programs for Queenslanders by individuals, organisations or collectives.

Rental Grants
A Rental Grant is a once only grant of 2 weeks rent to help you pay for the cost of moving into private rental accommodation. A Rental Grant is for people in a housing crisis.

Research Grants for Teachers
The Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) awards a small number of grants annually to practising Queensland teachers to assist them to present their research at key Australian education conferences.


School Bus Upgrade Scheme (SchoolBUS) 
Provides funding to eligible school bus operators to assist with the purchase of new busses or busses that are less that five years old.

Sponsorship Funding
Sponsorship will be considered for initiatives, events and activities that are outside the scope of funding provided to assist eligible organisations to deliver human services, and educational and preventative activities.

Young Athletes Travel Subsidy
This travel subsidy provides additional financial assistance through 3 event tiers and supports attendance at specific state, national and international events.

Business

CCIQ ecoBiz Queensland
CCIQ ecoBiz is a free program that helps businesses save thousands of dollars across their power, water and waste bills. Through ecoBiz, businesses put sustainable ideas into practice.

Community

Aboriginal Benefits Foundation Grants
The Foundation provides grants to assist Aboriginal communities and individuals by providing funds to support projects which advance the aims of the Foundation, with the current focus on supporting art, health and cultural projects with a connection to Aboriginal art and/or artists.

Aim for the Stars Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to females who have initiative and passion and are committed to achieving a dream in their field of choice.

Caltex Australia Grants
Support for a variety of organisations, events and programs in local communities.

Deviantart Creative Grants Program
The deviantART Creative Grants Program is a pilot project designed to make modest grants to artists upon application for projects related to making and displaying art.

Google Ad Grants Programme
Google Ad Grantees receive free AdWords advertising on Google search result pages. Ad Grantees build and manage their own AdWords accounts similar to paying advertisers.

Matana Foundation for Young People Grant Program
This program aims to provide assistance to disadvantaged young people in Australia in order to give them the opportunity to reach their full educational and social potential.

The Courier Mail Children's Fund
The Courier-Mail Children's Fund provides financial support to charitable organisations throughout Queensland to help them meet the needs of children with special needs.

Young Carers Bursary Programme
This programme aims to help relieve financial pressure on young carers to undertake part-time employment. Bursaries worth up to $3,000 each.

What is Regional Development Australia Moreton Bay?
Regional Development Australia Moreton Bay (RDAMB) is part of a national network of organisations, which in Queensland is funded through the Australian Government to promote the economic development of the Moreton Bay region.

The role of RDAMB is to:

  • Develop and implement a Regional Plan
  • Provide advice on critical issues affecting the region
  • Identify and implement initiatives to tackle the region's economic development priorities
  • Generate project proposals for the National Stronger Regions Fund
  • Promote Australian Government Programs.
