Announcing a read-a-thon and panel discussions on The Profound Treasury of the Ocean of Dharma

Celebrating The Profound Treasury of the Ocean of Dharma

We have a wonderful opportunity this spring to celebrate Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and his teachings, through a read-a-thon of his recently published work, The Profound Treasury of the Ocean of Dharma, and through panel discussions in four locations.

Introducing the Profound Treasury

The Profound Treasury of the Ocean of Dharma was published in January 2013. The 1,800 pages of this extraordinary work present a complete map of the Tibetan Buddhist path, as taught by the Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. It is based on teachings he presented at the annual three-month meditation and study retreats known as the Vajradhatu Seminaries, from 1973 to 1986. This remarkable material—which has never before been available to a general audience—presents Trungpa Rinpoche's teaching in a way that joins traditional concepts with contemplative understanding. It has taken more than thirty years to complete.

Forthcoming Events

Resounding the Profound Treasury: A Read-a-Thon

Beginning on April 4th, the Chogyam Trungpa Legacy Project is working with Shambhala International on a resounding, or read-a-thon, of the entire three volumes of The Profound Treasury.

Throughout the world, centers and individuals are invited to participate. The readings will occur at different places and different times, between April 4th and MidSummer’s Day. More information and a sign-up list of the chapter titles for the books are posted on the Legacy website. Here you or your center can sign-up to read a section and your reading will be posted on the map on the site. Check out the map to see the readings that are currently scheduled.

Reading on Your Own
Individuals unable to attend a reading at a center can download a chapter to read in their home or other location. You can download this chapter to read.

Translating
Centers or individuals who want to translate this chapter into another language, as a draft translation, in order to participate in the read-a-thon, are welcome to do so. We regret that translations are not yet available.

Resoundings Everywhere!
In addition to formal readings at the Shambhala Centers, there is lots of room to enjoy the resounding in other settings. Some people are talking about organizing readings at the location of other seminaries. And groups like Shambhala Media, Shambhala Publications, and the Shambhala Sun Foundation are planning group readings in their offices. How and where would you like to participate?
