Open House

Join us this weekend for our Annual Open House (Sunday May 1). Tours will be available for new and veteran campers. It is a chance to visit Camp Kirby and meet up with some old friends. The Open House begins at 2:00 pm and there will be a Spaghetti Feed beginning at 5:00 pm.

Resident Camp

Every year, around this time, I begin to notice the calendar days flying past me faster and faster as I countdown to camp. 73 days, 72 days, 71 days until our first group of campers arrive for resident camp. Our staff is anxiously awaiting their move to Kirby for the summer, and already busy planning our various themed activities. Costume preparations are under way for “Hollywood Glam” and “Pirates and Mermaids”, and we are ready to explore during “Around the World in 7 days”.

As we enter our 93rd Camp season, I couldn’t be more thrilled with the staff that we have hired. Each one brings a unique skill set to the table, and they are all incredibly passionate about giving each and every camper a wonderful experience. So far our staff has a combined total of over 100 years of Camp Kirby experience including years as a camper, CIT, and staff member! We can’t wait to kick off our summer season at the Open House and Spaghetti Feed this weekend, and we hope to see you there. Please reach out if you have any questions by contacting me at or (360)733-5710.

Day Camp

Our “Jurassic Kirby” Day Camp will be held June 27th-July 1st, and is shaping up to be an epic week! This year we will be offering a new “late pick-up option” in hopes of making Camp accessible for even more local campers. Registration has been moved to online, and there are still a few spots left! We are also still accepting applications for adult volunteers for our Day Camp week. Applications can be found on our website, Please reach out if you have any questions, or (360)733-5710.

Camp Fire Provides The Experience Youth Need To Discover Who They Are – Find Their Spark – And Become Leaders Now.

Our Annual Candy Sale was held in January and February. The candy sale builds important skills including goal setting, public speaking, and handling money. Top sellers earn a variety of recognition items, awards, and prizes. This year's top seller was Brianna Sandall who sold over 900 units!

A limited amount of candy is still available. Please contact the office.

To our Camp Fire family –

This Saturday is our last work party of the season and there are still lots of tasks to complete!! Please bring your garden tools, gloves, brush clippers, cleaning supplies, weed eaters, and even lawn mowers as we tackle the spring overgrowth and complete post flood cleaning and debris removal.
We’d also love you to join us on Sunday for our annual Camp Kirby Open House from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, followed by a spaghetti feed in the lodge.
Hope to see you all there!

Clubs for Youth

Camp Fire provides a nurturing, constructive and fun environment for young people to discover their sparks—unique skills, passions, and interests—and adopt a growth mindset. They chart their own course to healthy habits, community leadership, and connection to nature in collaboration with trained, caring adults. And, in turn, Camp Fire youth give back by sharing those skills in their communities.

Please contact the office for more information.

We gratefully acknowledge the thoughtful gifts we have received in 2016. Donations have been made in honor of Anya & Noah Petroff-Howard and in memory of Virginia Holt, Brian Morrison, Ted Preg, and Fred Vochatzer.
For each donation, Camp Fire Samish notifies the loved one, or, if deceased, their family, that a gift in their honor has been received (with no dollar amount).

Camp Kirby Wish List

Each year, Camp Kirby compiles a Wish List for items that are needed for Camp programs as well as for Camp general needs. Items can be brought to the main office in Bellingham or you can contact us for a drop off time and location in Skagit County. You can also donate funds to help purchase these items.
Have you ever been a Camp Fire Boy or Girl? Have you ever gone to Camp Kirby? Have you ever led a Camp Fire club? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, that means you’re a part of the Camp Fire Samish alumni! This group of wonderful people comprise a good portion of the Council as supporters and community members. Since they are such a big part of who we are, we felt it was only necessary that we feature them on our website. If you would like to have your loved one remembered on any of the new alumni webpages, please contact us at or call 360-733-5710.

Meet the Staff - Kelsey 'Kneon' Clarke

I was born and raised in Whatcom County and this will be my 15th summer at Camp Kirby. In the past year there have been amazing changes for me. In August I got married as well as accepted the role of Regional Membership Manager for Whatcom County. It has been so exciting to learn all about our clubs and to support our incredible club leaders since this past September. Membership is growing and it is my continuing goal to get more kids involved in Camp Fire Clubs.
This summer, I am looking forward to being the Assistant Director and Counselor-in-Training Director during Resident Camp at Camp Kirby. I have been working with the CIT’s for the past three summers and it has been an amazing gift to help shape and develop our future camp staff. I am thrilled to be a part of Camp Fire Samish.

Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers, donors, parents, and kids. Your continued commitment makes the magic of Camp Kirby a reality! Camp Fire is always seeking qualified candidates to join our Council Board or Committees. Please contact us for further information about our nominating process and procedures. No experience needed; just an earnest desire and commitment to work to make Samish Council the best it can be. For more information, please contact the office via e-mail at
